James Burrows was born about 1828 in Oxfordshire, England[1]. His parents were William Burrows and Charlotte Slade who were married at St Mary�s Church, Aylesbury, Buckingham, England[2]. It is not known when or how he came to Australia, it may have been either on the Argyle or the Maitland into Victoria in about 1849.
On
10th March 1852, James married Elizabeth
Bassingham
{also Bossingham} at the St James Cathedral, County of Bourke, Melbourne, Victoria,
Australia[3].
Elizabeth
was born in about 1828 in Cambridgeshire, England[4]
and came to Australia on the ship the �Bride�
which arrived into Victoria in February 1852, one month before she was married.
Also on board[5]
were her sisters Ann BOSSINGHAM
and
Esther BOSSINGHAM
, her future brother in law Thomas
Burrows
and
future sister in law Mary Ann Burrows
.
James
and Elizabeth had six children:
i. James
William Benjamin Bossingham Burrows53,
James was born in 1853 in Emerald Hill, Victoria, Australia[12]
and died in 1939.
ii. Elizabeth
Burrows,
Elizabeth was born in about 1855 in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia[6]
and married William Daniel Hunter in 1876. She died in 1924 and was buried in the Springvale Cemetery.
iii. Charles
Edward Burrows, Charles was born in
about 1858 in Berwick, Victoria, Australia[7].
In 1884 he married Elizabeth Thurling who died in 1919. He then married Agnes Rae in 1921. Charles died in 1931 and was buried in the Hopefield Cemetery.
iv. Frederick
Burrows,
Frederick was born on 21 January 1859 in Berwick, Dandenong, Victoria,
Australia. He died in 1931 in
Stanthorpe, Queensland, Australia. On
26 December 1882 he married Elizabeth Osborne at
the
Wesleyan Parsonage in Young, New South Wales, Australia[8].

Her date of death is unknown.
vi. Alfred
Burrows,
Alfred was in 1865 in Daylesford, Victoria, Australia[10]
and died in 1865 in Daylesford, Victoria, Australia[11].
Elizabeth
died from Cancer of the Womb and Ovaries in the Melbourne Hospital
in Victoria at the aged of 42 on 15 February 1870. It is not known where or when James died.

OSBORNE in the Wesleyan
Parsonage, Young, New South Wales[16].

she died on 7 August 1979 at the Stanthorpe Convalescent Home, Queensland,

FREDERICK JAMES BURROWS, Frederick was born
between 4th and 7th May 1888[23]
at Forbes, New South Wales, Australia[24].
He died between 26th and 29th October 1924 near the
Sundown Mine, Stanthorpe, Queensland, Australia
Fred
Burrows
was
found dead near the Sundown Mine south west of Stanthorpe[25]..
He died from bullet wounds to the head sometime between 26 and 28 October
1924.
An
inquest was held by Oscar Meston
J.P on 22 November 1924.
He was buried on his selection (Severn River, 4miles west from Sundown
Mine) where he was found, 40 yards from his hut.
Fred
Burrows Selection is now part of the Sundown National Park and the Burrows
Waterhole
Campsite is a tribute to his
memory.

FLORENCE BURROWS, Louisa was born on 3
April 1891, in Boyd Creek, Forbes, New South Wales, Australia[26].
On 22 February 1908 she married WILLIAM MANN in the Methodist Parsonage, Crows Nest,
Queensland, Australia[27].
William was born 1 March 1877 in Quart Pot Creek, Stanthorpe, Queensland,
Australia[28]
and died 27 October 1950 in General Hospital, Stanthorpe, Queensland, Australia[29].

ISABELLA M M BURROWS[30]. Isabella was born in
1894 in Forbes, New South Wales, Australia.
In 1912 she married George Dalton in
Narrabri, New South Wales, Australia[31].

7 August 1979 she died of Bronchopneumonia in the Stanthorpe Convalescent Home,
Queensland, Australia[40].
On 10 August 1979 she was buried in the Stanthorpe Cemetery, Queensland,
Australia[41]
