George Osborne(G-G-G-Grand Father)

Born Cambridgeshire, England about 1833

Died Yass, New South Wales, 1888

George Osborne[1] who was born in Calton, Cambridgeshire, England in about 1833[2] and immigrated to Australia in 1849 on the ship the Scotia[3].  He married Charlotte Garland[4] on 21 December at Pudman Creek near Yass in New South Wales[5] and died 24 February 1888[6] in the Yass Hospital.  George’s parents were William Osborne and Ann Lyons[7].

Charlotte was born in Gloucestershire, England in about 1845[8].  Her parents were John Garland and Harriett Perrin[9]and her line has been traced back to my seventh Great Grand Parents (John Garland and Hannah Hobbs) who were married in St Mary’s Church, Bitton, England in 1724.

 John and Charlotte and three children immigrated in 1852 aboard the Hydaspes (Pictured) into Sydney[10].  The Passenger List includes the following names and ages:

                   i.    ELIZABETH OSBORNE, Elizabeth was born in about 1865 in Burrowa, New South Wales.  See next section for more detail on Elizabeth.

                  ii.    UNNAMED OSBORNE, b. 14 November 1865, Burrowa, New South Wales, Australia.  This child was unnamed at time of registration but may actually be Elizabeth whose birth registration has not been found.

                 iii.    MALE OSBORNE, b. Abt. 1867, Binalong, New South Wales, Australia; d. Unknown.

                 iv.    MALE OSBORNE, b. Abt. 1869, Binalong, New South Wales, Australia; d. Unknown.

                  v.    GEORGE OSBORNE, George was born about 1871 in Binalong, New South Wales and died in about 1892 in Yass, New South Wales.

                 vi.    WILLIAM OSBORNE, William was born in about 1873 in Burrowa, New South Wales and married Mary Baylis in Forbes, New South Wales in 1899.  William and mary had three children before he died on 2 August 1917 in the District Hospital, Forbes, New South Wales, Australia.

                  xi.    THOMAS OSBORNE, Thomas was born in about 1883 in Burrowa, Yass, New South Wales and married Annie May Thompson in about 1921 in Tickborne, Parkes, New South Wales.  Thomas and Annie had four children before he died on 19 November 1942 at the District Hospital, Parkes, New South Wales.

                xiii.    ROBERT OSBORNE, Robert was born about 1887 in Burrowa, Yass, New South Wales and died in 1888 at Yass, New South Wales.

Elizabeth Osborne (G-G-Grand mother)

Died: Unknown

Elizabeth OSBORNE¹ was born in about 1865 in Burrowa, New South Wales, Australia[11].  She may have been the daughter of George Osborne and Charlotte Garland but this is yet to be confirmed as she appears to have been unnamed at the time her birth was registered.

On 26 December 1882 she married Frederick Burrows in Wesleyan Parsonage, Young , NSW, Australia [12].  He was born 21 January 1859 in Berwick, Dandenong, Victoria, Australia, and died 1931 in Stanthorpe, Queensland, Australia.  He was the son of James Burrows and Elizabeth Bassingham
