| I had been born in the country of Wales, in the land of Ynyslas. I never had many memories of my parents, as I had been sent to stay with a priest of Taliesin when I was about 2. A priest by the name of Gwydion had come into the village to perform his monthly healings. I had been running around and tripped and fell, cutting my knee. When Gwydion saw me crying, he came over to heal the wound, but before he even had a chance to heal me, Id healed the wound myself. Gwydion claimed that Taliesin had laid his mark on me, and requested that I stay with him to further my training.
My parents apparently consented, since the majority of my childhood memories revolved of learning the different properties of plant life, learning how to use nature to heal, and how to use my gifts to protect myself from the elements and how to help people when I could. I was taught how to be a healer primarily, although due to living away from others, I was taught how to defend myself physically from the various creatures. This was what consisted of most of my physical training, while mentally I learned to respect the gods and goddesses, to be wary of the Brenin Llwyd when near Cader Idris, and to show homage to all of their creatures. I was 15 when I first started having dreams where I would be given places to go to help people. I remember the first time I had a dream, it was of an entire village dying because of a sickness. It started with nearly one child, but quickly spread to the adults and everyone else. I woke up in a cold sweat, to Gwydion trying to wake me. When I told him of my dream, he proclaimed it a sign from the gods and we immediately left for the village that was mentioned in the dream. When we got to the village, the child from my dream was very sick, as was his parents. Gwydion managed to come up with a remedy for the sickness, saving the entire village. After that day, all of my dreams became of utmost importance to Gwydion. I continued to have dreams for two years, each one telling us where to go, some saving lives, others doing nothing more than bringing happiness. When I was 17, I had another dream. Taliesin himself visited me and told me to go to Damascus to seek knowledge that would allow me to help more people. I woke in a cold sweat and informed Gwydion, who agreed that we should leave immediately. I knew very little about languages, and Gwydion accompanied me on my journey, teaching me Latin and English, on the way. We traveled by visiting communes that Gwydion knew of. Wed stay about a day or so, just long enough to learn of another commune along the way. After nearly four long years, I found myself at the gates of Damascus. Not even two days earlier Gwydion suddenly died of reasons that I still dont understand to this day. I have been staying in the tents outside of the city, waiting for morning so that I may hope to view the library within, and seek the knowledge I was sent for. |
