Alam, Fida'i of Alamut
Alam was born on the southern edge of the birthplace of the Nile.  The mountains sheltered a growing community of Christians, whose roots were founded many years before by wandering prophets.  His mother died shortly after his birth, coupled with the fact that his father was in question put his birth and therefore the child into question. But like much of such communities he was cared for, if not decently and brought up with families that could take him.  This would have a dramatic effect on his later life.  A laborious childhood quickly turned into a laborious teenage existence.  Alam was never as quick to the meal as many, tending to take the scraps at the end more often than not. This led to him having a smaller stature than the other children.  But the normal workload of a nomadic, kept his small body strong and wiry.  A lonely outlook gave him introspective and a nature that was deceptively quiet.  He learned much by not saying anything.
When he reached the age of adulthood, perhaps 16, he left, and was not missed.  Alam ventured north and westward, seeking a life else. He found his way down into the Nile valley, ruins of a bygone era peppered the landscape, and the gatherings of people, with whiter skin than him.  He first started out as a tender of horses for a merchant family that had ventured south to sell pure breed horses from the deserts north.  Hard work and persistence led him to take on the job of temporarily bodyguard.  Lessons were hard earned by the veterans who didn't see the value in his small frame.  Lessons gathered as a child, scriptures of texts allowed him to keep favor with the merchant and allowed him passage north as the trading continued. Ten years it took for the merchant to reach his lands 100 miles east of Nile basin.  Alam took the offered money, a small fortune and his skills south and east, venturing as far as his money and luck could go.  Eventually his path turned northwards into the lands of the Buglers, and the tartars. By this time, he had work as both bodyguard and as an assassin and the lore of gold and lands unseen made him ventured to the Latin lands northward. One day he ventured into a town, which would be near the modern day country of Switzerland, he spied a sight that he had never seen before, beggars living on the streets.  He had always been used to seeing everyone, no matter how ill or poor, being taken care of by the community, either as a whole or by the religious contingent.
Frantically he turned his head as if to look for someone, anyone that notices this outrage. He offered to help one of these, and surprisingly, the poor man didn't even realized that he could be cared for, and turned him away, thinking that Alam was going to take advantage of him.  Money quickly found it's way from pouch to the street in front of the old man, and Alam went on, in shock All at once, a sudden moment turned into a passion, for the last 20 years Alam has spent his life going from one village to another, helping who he could in contrast to his job, taking money to hurt or to kill.  He searched and helped mainly families caught in the struggle of life, offering money and whatever else he could offer, accepting no thanks, and going on with his travels.
