THE PROGRAMS

Capability Building Program

Capability Building Program is the provision of appropriate trainings to ensure readiness of the community to manage their own groups and their projects as well as to empower them to access at a faster rate the basic social services to meet their identified minimum basic needs.

Core Shelter Assistance Program (CSAP) and Emergency Shelter Assistance (ESA)

CSAP is a disaster response and mitigation strategy that involves the organization of disaster victims and formation of work teams that will build core shelter units designed to withstand 180 kph wind velocity, an earthquake of moderate intensity (4 to 6 in the Richter Scale and other similar natural hazards). The work teams are composed of five families who pool their labor and counterpart resources together in constructing the core shelters.

ESA is the provision of limited financial/material assistance to help families construct or repair their houses that were damaged by natural or man-made disasters.

See the CSAP at work in Luna, Apayao.

Day Care Services and Educational Assistance

Supplemental parental care through Day Care Services is provided for children 0-6 years old who may be potentially neglected, neglected, abused, exploited or abandoned during part of the day when parents cannot attend to their needs.

Educational Assistance provides for the financial aid (tuition fees and other school supplies) of students who cannot afford to continue with their education expenses.

Disaster Mitigation and Preparedness

Disaster Mitigation and Preparedness is the provision of interventions aimed at reducing the actual or probable effects of a threatening hazard on man and his environment and limiting the impact of a disaster by structuring the response for a quick and orderly reaction.

Supplemental Feeding

Supplemental Feeding is the provision of supplemental food assistance to nutritionally depressed barangays and to moderately and surely (non-medical) underweight children. Immediate and direct intervention to improve the nutritional status and prevent any permanent physical and mental retardation.

Self Employment Assistance-Kaunlaran (SEA-K)

SEA-K is a livelihood assistance program that involves the provision of an integrated package of social welfare services to needy family heads, disadvantaged women, out-of-school youth, and persons with disabilities. The services include capital assistance; social preparation or capability building; technical assistance and other support services.

Innovative Projects

Innovative Projects are projects developed outside of the regular social welfare and development programs to aid the community in fulfilling their basic needs. Most of these projects are infrastructures like water systems, farm-to-market-roads, multi-purpose drying pavements.

Example of which is the mini-hydro-electric plant in Kalinga.
