I carried the Olympic Torch by dog team into West Yellowstone, Montana on Sunday, January 27, 2002.  This was the only segment of the relay in which sled dogs were used.  I used six dogs - four Alaskan Huskies and two Siberians - for my team, and we carried the torch for about a mile.  It was an incredible experience, probably one of the highlights of my life.

There was a huge crowd there, something like three times the population of the town of West Yellowstone.  The whole entourage that followed the torch was very fascinated by the dog team as this was unique for the entire relay. We had perfect weather - light snow and a bit of wind for a true touch of winter.

Running past the cheering crowds while holding the flame high was truely an emotional experience.
