Collaboration with other Artists

*NSYNC sure has cooperated with a lot of other musical artists and done some smooth stuff. Here are my thoughts on them.

*Music of My Heart w/Gloria Estefan: You guys are the best. Gloria Estefan, feel proud. Feel very proud. This song touched me so much because if its message and theme...music is one of the most important things in my life as are those who have given me this gift, and it's so good for huge musicians like you to perform a song heralding that experience. It should have won the Oscar. Really, truly, Music of My Heart is a praise to musicians everywhere and to the love we receive from unexpected places. The movie was tight, too. I believe that there are two versions of this song. The one that played at the end of the movie was longer.

*I Believe in You w/Joe: Have I mentioned that this guy Joe is cool? Music like this should just top the charts...deep and smooth, filled with extensions of musical goodness. He should just join *NSYNC as another member.

*That's The Way it Is w/Celine Dion: Another awesome number, performed at the Celine Dion All the Way Concert along with Music of My Heart. Well, technically it's Celine's song; *NSYNC is there just as guest backup voices. Still, I like this one and they do a good job anyway.

*Bring it All to Me w/Blaque(JC Only): This would be the unleashing of JC's infamous thug appeal. Intensely tight, very easy to groove to. Many people have accused Blaque as using *NSYNC only as marketting techniques. My response: Who cares?

*As If w/Blaque(Joey Only): You know...the song's actually not too bad...but that's only 'cause the way-way-way-waaaaay-too-brief-yet-still-awesome solo by Joey saved it. Not like something I'd listen to over and over...but hey. It ain't a bad song. Just needed more Joey, less stuck-up-girl-talk lyrics(Hey, I'm just not into that).

*Trashing the Camp w/ Phil Collins: Um...it's like...that tune from Tarzan. In the movie it's Rosie O'Donnell, I think. It's just vocals, not really a song. Still, it's really good vocals, bring on the *NSYNC(Note: In 1999, *NSYNC worked with one artist who was nominated for an Oscar and was co-nominated for another. Hmm:))

*Let the Music Heal Your Soul w/Bravo Allstars(?): I've always wondered why *NSYNC and the Backstreet Boys don't do something together as a big happy family or something. Turns out they already did. Kinda. This songs features like forty artists from all around western civilization(Incidentally, it seems to feature mostly European artists that are relatively unknown here and a whole lotta persons who resemble boybands). I encourage this kind of artistic unity for a greater cause, even if I'm not crazy about all the voices there(Who's that weird little kid voice?). Ah well...with forty or so folks doing their thing it's only to be expected. But why didn't this get more attention in the US? Or in fact, any attention at all? I only heard it one time outside of my computer, and that's when the music video played in Taiwan, for Chrissakes. Hey c'mon folks, you need to pull more stuff like this together!

*Children of the World w/?: I haven't yet heard the full version of this song, but I think it's something like the one above, a big bang with a lot of artists from all over. I'm pretty sure the BSB are in this one as well, along with 5ive. Need more info on this.

*The Superbowl Halftimes w/Aerosmith, Britney Spears, Mary J. Blige, and Nelly: Come here!

*NEW My Kind of Girl w/Brian McKnight(Justin Only): If you saw the *Ntimate Holiday Special you got a preview of this song. And what can I say, I love this. First of all the whole groove of the beat and the lyrics themselves...very nice. Very nice. And it's very bare...just kinda accoustical and vocal. And the vocals...wow. Hello? Brian by himself is just astounding and beautiful...and then Justin?? Awesome. Flat-out awesome. They fit very nicely together. With two people instead of five, the feeling is very intimate and intense, different from the type of feeling you get from four or five people laying down tracks at the same time...not necessarily better or worse, but different all the same.
On another note, I got Brian McKnight's Superhero(You know...the album that this song was on? Lol), and it's pretty sweet as well.

*What's Going On w/Christina Aguilera, Backstreet Boys, Mary J. Blige, Bono, Destiny's Child, Jermaine Dupri, Fred Durst, Eve, Nelly Furtado, Nona Gaye, Darren Hayes, Ja Rule, Wyclef Jean, Alicia Keys, Aaron Lewis, Lil' Kim, Jennifer Lopez, Nas, Nelly, P. Diddy, ?uestlove, Britney Spears, Gwen Stefani, and Michael Stipe:
"We want George Bush to buy the record. It's great when you can put it in their face and say, you know, this isn't another one that you can just sign a bill or, or sign this and it's going to go away. You know, it's still there and we need still need help, we still need funding, we still need research."
God this song is...just astounding.
I almost decided to make a page exclusively dedicated to this, but then figured that whatever I wanted to say I could say it here. I remember when I first heard that they were going to be doing something like this. It was a few days before the VMAs this year, and I saw it on MTV's news page. I remember thinking wow, *NSYNC, Britney, BSB, and Christina in the same song? That kind of superficial thing. But then I started to think of every other artist and how this is all in order to benefit AIDS Research? This will be huge. This will touch a lot of people.
Marvin wasn't foolin'. He knew what he was talking about. Decades later, the lyrics to this song...almost fit perfectly and eerily with the state of the world today, especially with what happened recently.

"Mother, mother there's too many of you crying
Oh, brother, brother, brother there's far too many of you dying."

"You see war is not the answer
For only love can conquer hate."

"You know we've got to find a way
To bring some understanding here today."

My fav part of the song...hmm, probably Nelly's and then *NSYNC's, though of course everyone did an awesome job. I really like this, not just because like, I should because it's for charity or *NSYNC is in it, I think it's an honestly amazing song and effort.

*NEW Dancing Machine w/The Jacksons: At the MJ Tribute...obviously it's like the Celine one mentioned above in which *NSYNC are just the "guests" in the song. Lol...okay first of all every single guy in this did a great job. Made it really fun and fun to watch. Chris is sexy. And if course it's an indescribable honor to be performing with the Jacksons! But when you only appear for around a minute of the song...you only appear for a minute of the song;)! They did a great job but of course it ultimately felt too short and was over before it began.

*What It's Like to Be Me w/Britney Spears(Justin Only): Well...here's that duet of theirs that everyone was waiting for lol:). Technically it's not a duet at all since he's just doing vocals, and in the live version of this her own backup crew does his part, but seriously you can tell people that this is the Justin/Britney duet and they wouldn't be able to dispute, since he is pretty prominent in it and at times it even feels like they're drawing off of each other, which is cool.
I really like it, it's really tight and has a great beat...along with "Not a Girl..." it's my favorite on the Britney album.

*NEW! I Will w/Dave Foster(Chris Only): Written by Richard Marx...it's really a solo song with Chris (!!!!) but I heard that Dave does backup on this...and besides I couldn't find anywhere else to place this:p.
I think that, out of all the *NSYNCers, I like Chris' voice the best(EVEN THOUGH I LOVE ALL THEIR VOICES AND WOULDN'T TRADE ANY ONE FOR THE OTHER), it maybe not be as strong as Joey's or JC's or Lance's or as melliflous as Justin's, but I think the word to describe it is unique. I said before that Chris' voice just has this otherworldly quality, like you're trying to place voice with owner and it's just...wow. Chris has a very special voice.
Praise be to Dickie and Dave for giving him the chance to showcase it like this. I love hearing Chris on harmony but this is just s whole other side of his vocality that should be showcased as well.
I really like this song. It's really simple, it's nice, beautifully written, and it gets the message across. Chris does it more than enough justice and makes it so haunting, it's great. Huge props.
