| McLaren M20 Chevrolet #4 Peter Revson, #5 Denny Hulme. McLaren was outgunned in '72. They could not compete with the financial and engineering resources of the Porsche-backed Penske run Porsche 917/10s. They did push the Porsches hard all season. The M20 was the last factory effort for McLaren in the Can-Am. As such they represent the end of an era. I had never been a big fan of the M20 until I saw them in person this weekend. They are beautiful cars. Unfortunately neither car ran in anger. They only took a couple of parade laps all weekend, (which I managed to miss somehow!) It was still a treat to see these legends in person. |
