| Another weekend over and done. This one started early with my leaving Thursday for the north. Taking a desk and some computer stuff that had been given to Karla by my mother. I was just excited to be leaving early. The purpose also was to apply for a job or two up there, to test the market, so to speak. Got up to Menominee around 9 or so. Megan had crashed on the floor waiting for me, and Shaun and Karla were engrossed in Bookworm, her new vice. Actually all of theirs--they played it quite a bit over the weekend. Spent Friday doing very little that I remember. Finished watching a movie that was ok. A Guy Thing. Meant to go to Job Service and drop off applications, but got busy with something else, and then sort of procrastinated a little. Did it Monday though, finally. With Karla's help. It's a lot different than here, where you send in a resume and they call and you go for an interview. And the applications they have are so minimal. Funny. Friday night ? Oh, Karla and I made Sesame Chicken for lunch Friday, and it was excellent. Getting better at that one. We went to get gas and then Nathan after the kids got out of school. Right after getting gas I called and found out he wasn't coming because he was feeling ill. Good thing I called, or we would have driven to Green Bay for nothing. Got to wonder about all that, but not right now. Went to Brothers 3, paid too much for bad fish. Then to Menard's for a faucet for the upstairs bathroom. Managed to install that on the sink, but not the sink in the bathroom. Got caught up doing some cleaning, and finishing work on the downstairs faucet. Also, planted a Bleeding Hearts plant in a shady corner that I thought needed life. Karla became ill Saturday, and though we didn't have the kids we didn't do much but sit around and watch the Brewers Game. It was a good one up until the 9th when they lost 11-10. Bummer. Very disappointing to give it up like that. Sunday I met Karla's friend Tammy. I'd been hearing about her for a year, and she didn't really look like I imagined, but she talked pretty close to the way I imagined. Says exactly what shes thinking. I can only do that in email, not in person, and not with someone I've never met before. It was kind of cool. Monday, applied for a couple jobs, and came back to Waukesha. I'll write more about that tomorrow. C |
