next day's entry

Sunday, Sunday . . . .

Today I will try to catch up and talk about the weekend before this one.  Why?  I got lost last week and forgot a few entries!

Karla came to Milwaukee for a little vacation.  Vacation away from the house and Menominee.  We got a room at the Hampton Inn and planned a variety of things.  Things I liked to do, and she had never done mainly.

Started Friday by meeting at Target by my old apartment.  K came early and shopped for an hour plus before I got there.  We got a few things for the kids and for ourselves for the weekend, then ran down to the hotel to register and get set up.  Changed clothes, relaxed for a minute or two, and then off to see the Brewers play the Dodgers.  Karla had never been to Miller Park and I hadn't been so far this year.  She actually visibly enjoyed it!  I was thinking she might be bored and we'd have to leave early, but she got into the game and the atmosphere, and even though the power went out for a little while we stayed until the very end.  We had Fish Frys there, and really expensive beer and wine.  Going to have to take all three kids sometime soon.

Saturday we woke and went to the breakfast buffet, then got dressed and went to Boerner Botanical Gardens.  Unfortunately, a lot of the flowers and plants weren't in full bloom, but it was a beautiful warm day and the plants and flowers that were there were worth the entry fee.  And yes, they charge now to see it!  I couldn't believe that.  We wandered around there for awhile, then went to the Mall.

Scratch that, we went to Southridge first.  But who cares what order we did things in?  We scoured the mall, getting a few things for Ryan's birthday, and a book for Megan, and a $2 cookbook.  Pretty big cookbook for $2.  Hmmm.  We had lunch at ChiChis express in the food court---then we went to the gardens.

We ordered a pizza that was way too big for dinner, then went out to Have a Nice Day to drink and dance, and meet some friends.  We drank, friends never showed and we didn't dance.  From there we were going to Le Cage, but got sidetracked and ended up at Club Paradise.  Not a paradise!  Too many short, swarthy men, and too few attractive women.  And no seats at the bar.  Not exactly what I had hoped for for Karla's first experience at a strip club.  I wanted to go straight from there to Airport to wash the taste out of our mouths, but tiredness overcame and we went back to the hotel and to sleep.

Tomorrow, Sunday!
