  1. New Moon, dates of occurence
  2. Full Moon, ...
  3. Half Moons, waxing and waning, ...
  4. Solstices and Equinoxes ...

(ie. Sabbats, if you're a Wiccan)

  5. The Wiccan "esbats", or lesser festivals, fall on the halfway points between the solstices and equinoxes. So, they should fall close to the dates given by Starhawk in "The Spiral Dance" (ISBN 0-06-067537-7), which are

    • Candlemas ........ February 2

    • Beltane ............. May 1 (*)

    • Lughnasad ........ August 1

    • Samhain............ October 31

Point of clarity : "Brigid" is on the same day as Candlemas, and "All Souls Day" or "Halloween" is on the same day as Samhain.

  6. "Sabbats" fall on the equinoxes and solstices :

    • Eostara .......... Spring Equinox
    • Litha ............. Summer Solstice
    • Mabon .......... Fall Equinox
    • Yule
    • ............. Winter Solstice

(*) Starhawk declines to give a calendar date, here, referring to the festival as occuring on "May Eve", when the festivities make it clear that she means "May Day", which would be the day after May Eve, presumably. Certainly, this is the day on which everyone we've met has celebrated it.
