7/4/05 Jake can go from sitting to standing/walking without pulling himself up on something. When he is outside he can actually stand without using his hands to push himself up from the ground. We think he is scared to get dirty.

7/4/05 The busload went for their first boat ride today. We cruiesed around Clam Lake in Siren, WI. They were pretty much in awe and not quite sure what to think. Mitchell & Aaron fell asleep and Jake was too curious to close his eyes.

7/28/05 - 7/31/05 OUR FIRST FAMILY VACATION The five of us ventured down to Decorah, Iowa for Nordic Fest. On Thursday afternoon we left for the Holmen's which is on the way to Decorah. We stopped there for a little supper and to say hi. We then ventured to Decorah and then on to Ossian where we stayed at Vic's house. We went to the parade on Saturday and visited with Lillian and the rest of the gang from Ossian at Lillian's apartment. Later that afternoon the five of us went out for a stroll to see what happenings were going on. We walked up and down the streets listening to some good bands and we got a shake that we all shared. On Sunday late morning we left Ossian and headed up to the Cities for the rest of our week's vacation.

8/1/05 - 8/4/05 OUR FIRST FAMILY VACATION (cont) Sunday afternoon we went stopped at Grandma and Grandpa's in South St. Paul to clean up and eat something before we drove the next 1 1/2 hours up to the lake. We arrived up there around supper time and went out to eat with Grandma and Grandpa and Aunt Pat and Uncle Einar. Monday we went to Danbury to visit Pat and Einar at their cabin. We went swimming that afternoon (click here to see pictures). They seemed to love the water. Aaron actually dove in head first from the raft we were using. He was just fine though. Aaron, Mitchell, and Jake saw lots of boats crusing the lake too. Tuesday we went swimming at Clam Lake in Siren where Grandma and Grandpa's trailer is. Wednesday we went out to lunch with Pat and Einar at Pheasant Inn in Siren. Then stopped at a couple more places on the way back to the trailer. It was really hot! Thursday we packed up our things and headed home.

8/5/05 NO MORE BOTTLES! Today is our first day strictly on sippy cups! We have packed away the bottles for good. We started giving the boys sippy cups without the valve so it poured more into their mouth. So far they are doing pretty good, they drink close to the same as what they did with the bottles. Today was also the first day they started crawling down the stairs on their own. Jake pretty much has the hang of it. He knows that he needs to get on his hands and knees and turn around and crawl down backwards. Aaron and Mitchell are figuring it out with a little help.

8/5/05 Sibley County Fair (Arlington, MN) The boys attended their first county fair. This afternoon we went to the Sibley County Fair in Arlington, MN. The boys loved the animals the most, although they were a little scared of the sheep. There was one sheep who was very loud and Aaron, Mitchell and Jake seemed a little scared by him.

8/6/05 Aaron & Jake get their first haircut Aaron and Jake got their first haircut (Mitchell got his second) today. They did pretty well considering their hair is somewhat hard to cut since it is so fine so it took a while. All three were lined up their booster chairs in the kitchen and watched their video while we cut their hair.

8/8/05 Aaron is climbing on furniture Now we have three climbers! Aaron has joined the other two on the couch. He also has figured out how to climb on the kitchen chairs.

8/12/05 Carver County Fair (Waconia, MN) We all went to the Carver County Fair today. We saw more animals and the boys didn't seem as scared of the sheep this time (they were a little more quiet than at the Sibley County Fair). We think their favorite was the little chicks. Mitchell learned very quickly that if he stuck his finger in their cage they would peck at it. He thought that was pretty funny. We tried deep fried cheese curds which they all loved, especially Aaron. Chrissy tore up the last cheese curd to give to the boys and had it in front of Aaron and within a couple of seconds he had all 6-8 pieces gone! He just put one or two small pieces in his mouth at a time, one right after another! We also all shared a footlong corndog.
