Mercy for Carl Marburger, Child of God
Turn the other cheek... more than good advice, it's straight from our Lord Jesus.
"Turn the other cheek" if someone hits you - what if you know you won't be alive to turn the other cheek if they hit you the first time?

Does this change the situation? Imagine you are alone in the dark, trying to recover from a gran mal seizure and there is someone there trying to kill you, knife in hand, lunging and yelling "I'm going to cut your throat! I'm going to kill you!" While you're still trying to figure out where you are...
Are you absolutely sure you know exactly how you would react? Ever had a gran mal? Ever faced an attacker with a knife? Done both together? Probably not. Thank God, most of us never have to deal with either, much less both at the same time.

Unfortunately for Brother Carl, both happened to him,at the same time. Ideally, you should immobilize the assailant and call 911 for help. That's what he did. Sadly, he immobilized him too well. Whether the Holy Spirit or instinctual survival took over - the assailant will never attack again, dead by his own knife...
