Charitable Update

1999 has been a busy year for Philanthropy Chair Laura Williams and Zeta Phi.  Her creative fund raising ideas have paid off in more ways than one.  Not only have we raised significant monies for various causes, but we've had much fun while doing so.  For more information on how to join in on our 2000 philanthropy schedule, please visit our upcoming events calendar.  All the event particulars and contact information is included.  Looking forward to seeing you out at our next 'Philanthropic Philandering'.
Check out some highlights of our efforts over the past year ...

Toga Maddness ~ Kelsey's Bowling for Kids

On February 5th Alpha Gams braved a snowstorm to strut their 'Greek Goddess' outfits and superb bowling moves to support Kelsey's Bowl for Kids at the Hamilton Mountain Bowl.  Together Mary Lynn Kostash, Christel Kuiper, Mia Manson, Elizabeth Obermeyer-Kostash and Laura Williams raised $658 by collecting pledges.  Way to go Ladies!

3rd Annual Scleroderma Carwash

Once again our chapter took out the suds and shimmies and headed for Dundas.  The Cactus Festival crowd did not let us down - we washed & rinsed our way towards $301.50.  We also managed to get media coverage as the Dundas Star News deemed us newsworthy enough for a large article with pictures to boot!  What a wonderful way to increase awareness for the Scleroderma Society of Ontario.

The Traditional Cookies for Convention Sale

What would the year be without McMillan Cookie dough?  Sales remain excellent - thanks to sisters such as Vivian Hindsberg and Mia Manson, who were our top producers.  With revenue of $431 we are more than half way to our goal of raising $750.  Look out Convention here our Zeta Phi rep comes!

Good Samaritans for the Good Sheppard

On November 23rd several AGDs made a delivery of more than a dozen FULL garbage bags of clothing and some household items to 'Martha House'.  This facility is a transition residence in Hamilton for 28 women and children and is operated by the Good Sheppard Women's Centre.  Thanks to all for donations and time spent collecting and delivering!

Adopt A Family for Christmas

This year the members of Zeta Phi decided to embrace the spirit of giving - in lieu of our Christmas gift exchange we sponsored a needy family (a single father and his 14 and 12 year old daughters).  The generous donations from sisters and their families amounted to more than $300 for which presents from a 'wish list' as well as a grocery store gift certificate were purchased.  The anonymous delivery took place on December 22nd.  A special thanks to Lisa Keleher for acting as liaison.

Daily Bread Food Bank Peanut Butter Extravaganza

Unfortunately the Toronto Daily Bread Food Bank cancelled our planned visit for December 19th.  Not only were we roaring to go, but how many volunteers were planning to bring 15 kilos of Squirrel Peanut Butter - we wonder!?  Keep an eye on the upcoming events section as we are making efforts to reschedule; otherwise get ready to enjoy PB sandwiches at the majority of gatherings in 2000!!

Thanks for Visiting
