FORGOTTEN LEGENDS - Episode III - The Ogre Caves of Rensin

What did you see? asked Duh.

It wasnt what I saw, but what I heard. The mere mention of the strange click, click, clacking sound that emanated from the left corridor was enough to raise the hairs on the back of her neck. I am not sure what was down there, but I suggest we go elsewhere. There was a genuine sense of fear in her voice, and the other quickly agreed. Immediately, Shenya was exploring the hallway that stretched into the darkness in the other direction.

She soon heard the guttural voices of goblins once again in a room at the end of the hallway. Again, she reported her findings, and Duh came up with a brilliant plan. At first, his macabre idea of decapitating the gnolls was met with disgust, until he added one minor detail. Duhs plan was to take the severed heads, throw them into the room where the goblins were, and scream in his thick orcish accent WATCH OUT, THERE COMING. His plan was executed perfectly, and the occupants were so stunned that three of them fell to the melee weapons of Killian, Duh, and Arris before they could even turn around.

However, the one who considered himself in charge of this group of useless creatures was a magic wielding shaman, and as such, when the group entered the room, he was prepared. They saw not one, but 5 identical versions of the same beast. Shenya quickly fired a bolt from her crossbow, but it instantly shot right through her intended target. She did manage to make it disappear, but it looked as though the other images were none the worse. She tried to remember in the back of her mind what arcane trickery this hobgoblin shaman had engaged in, but she had no recollection of any such teachings from Varas or any other arcane artist she had met. Shenya became concerned.

Shenyas trepidation did not prevent Killian and Arris from coming to her aid, as they too sent sword and mace through translucent beings. Finally, one mighty blow caused a gasp of air as Killians sword hit home. The creature was stunned, as his defensive images began to flicker. It became easier for the others to find and hit the correct target, and one by one any pretense of defense that the hobgoblin had clung too was slowly slipping away. Realizing his inevitable plight, the hobgoblin, recognizing the holy symbol of St. Cuthbert imbedded on Killians breastplate, dropped to his knees and begged forgiveness. Duh, having dispatched the rest of the denizens in the room, ran forward in his heightened rage and nearly took the hobgoblins head. Only Killians outstretched arm and firm grip managed to calm the barbaric half-orc, and Duh slumped from exhaustion.

Talk quickly, or this half-crazed barbarian will have your head as a trophy along with these gnolls, came Killians threat. He wanted to extract as much information as he could, and insisted on the hobgoblins compliance. The hobgoblin felt no remorse in ratting out the entire information related to the ogre caves, including the location of Brakk, the ogre leader. Motioning that the boss man was somewhere on the other side of the cave complex, Shenya recalled the clicking noises that she had heard earlier.
