Red Factor Facts
History of the Red Factor
The red colour of the Red Factor was bred into canaries many yeas ago by a German breeder known as Dr. Hans Duncker who crossed a male South American bird known as the Red Siskin with a Border Fancy canary hen.

Colour Feeding
=
Red Factor canaries can come in a range of colours such as a very deep orange (almost red), copper, apricot, pink and also red-bronze.

Colour feeding should really only be worried about when new feathers are growing in and this usually occurs when birds are molting.

Many breeders and fanciers feed their Red Factor canaries commercially bought colour supplements during the molt to enhance the birds colours. While this method of colour feeding is most effective it can be harmful to a bird's health.

You can also enhance your birds colour by feeding your bird natural things such as fresh grated carrots and chopped broccoli. This method may not work as well as some birds may eat more of the food than others however it should make a large difference compared to if nothing had been done at all.
