| Flora London Marathon 2004 Hundreds of thousands of fun- runners took to the streets of London to raise cash for different charities and causes, and 2004 was a brilliant year for St Birinus School, one of our teachers agreed to take part and help raise hundreds of pounds to my school's fundraising boost for the Oxford Children's Hospital. Fun-runners, young and old, lined the streets of busy, vibrant London to tackle what started off a miserable weatherish day - gloomy heavy rain and winds of a gruelling 6-hour run, with live coverage of the big sporting event on the BBC, on the day. So, Mr Ben Williams, who teachers French at school, got his running gear on to aid the fundraising appeal for the 20m hospital, and was even wearing a Chox T-Shirt, to represent the Appeal. He finished in an fantastic 3 hours and 53 seconds, what a target he set himself to finish in under 4 hours! It's not the first St Birinus teacher to get his trainers and shorts on and run in the London Marathon, a few years ago, Art teacher, Ben Phelps, ran for another charity. But Mr Williams' was a special participation to helping to raise vital funds for the Oxford Children's Hospital! At the moment, it is guessed that he has raised around 600 for the the Appeal's total at St Birinus! More on this Coming Soon! |
