FOX FM's Local Heroes Awards over the years has been a spectacular event - but 2003 was the greatest, says organiser, Ali Hilborne, "All the hard work and long hours really paid off. Local Heroes 2003 topped them all".

The 2003 star-studded gala event was all in aid of not just extraordinary people, but also local causes - and the big night raised a whopping total, in fact 53,000! It was definately a right royal occasion - celebrity guests, pop stars and local heroes were among the highlights ...
... and a very, special auction of "exclusive bargains" of prizes went under the hammer too - to raise vital cash for The Money Pot! Money

raised goes to three good causes, Macmillan Cancer Relief, Energy and Vision, and Oxford Children's Hospital.
Star talents included Fame Academy's Lemar, who was crowned with a Pop Award, and singer Amy Studt, performed her new song. Blue was named Favourite Artist with the Fox FM Award. The line up of winners were better than ever - and four were rewarded for their fantastic efforts and contributions to Oxfordshire!
Those who won awards, included Jeff Samways, from Abingdon, who has hundreds of thousands of pounds for the Mutiple Sclerosis Society (Oxford and District) in the last five years - but being paralysed from the disease - he didn't let it stop him from organising every possible event he could to help raise money! What a champion fundraiser!.

Iffley Village Shop won the award for Business to Community for surviving against the odds from near possible closures - and staff shortages. But with the campaigners of the village - their residents and shoppers - they were saved and are going strong today! ...
... and
I was named a local hero for my fund-raising efforts raising so much cash for Oxford Children's Hospital -

despite the condition of my brain I suffer from following major surgery. Read more on my award and big night account here.

Fox FM's DJ, Carl Carter, said: "It is great to honour so many very special people and raise heaps of money for our Money Pot charity at the same time."

So, as you can, it was a great night out - and a special one for so many!
