Stories from Madera, 100 years ago

Madera County Courtroom

Foreword:   Although the old newspaper articles are fun to read, they are generally written with a degree of sensationalism.  However, the articles do give an interesting glimpse into the family's early life in Madera.  What is really needed is a more accurate history of life in Madera written by Chinese.  There is the distinct possibility that those historic treasures of Madera early life exist at the Yee Chung house in Namlong, Zhongshan County in China.  Not only were Yee Chung and his wives pictures still on display in the front sitting room, but there appeared to be original furnishingto one side and in the back rooms, and boxes with yet to be determined contents.  Just possibility, the boxes might include handwritten letters from Yee Chung to his first wife and daughter in China.  We just have to return to discover that history.  Anyone interested?
