and support groups. C: |
C:HOICE's short listHere are some organizations which C:HOICE members will find of direct use. The Ontario Federation of Teaching Parents In their own words: The OFTP is a non-sectarian, non-profit, volunteer-managed group of people committed to providing information about Family and Community-Based Education to anyone desiring it. It acts as a link between home educators and institutions such as the provincial government and school boards. Our comment: Those of us at C:HOICE who are also members of the OFTP recommend membership, as a valuable source of information and discussion. It's especially worth supporting if you believe homelearners need a common voice with which to dialogue with the provincial Ministry of Education. The Association of Canadian Home-Based Education In their own words: ACHBE is committed to providing support, advice and information to individuals and organizations. Acting as a special interest group nationally and regionally, ACHBE will help protect the rights of all Canadians to educate their children at home. ACBHE has no political or religious affiliations. Our comment: Members of OFTP are automatically also members of ACHBE, which does on the national scale what OFTP does in Ontario. Take a look at their page on legislation to get a summary for each province.
