The Competition named as "Chinmaya Geeta Chanting
Competition" shall be conducted by Sevaks, Senior Members, Study
Group Members, Devi Group Members, Chinmaya Vidyalaya Teachers, Chyks etc.
under the auspices of the local Chinmaya Mission Centre. The Sevaks /
Sevikas can reach out to as many children as possible and only this will
help us to achieve the goal of taking the message of Geeta to as many
children as possible in the year 2009.
No competiton shall be conducted without the knowledge of the local
co-ordinator of the Chinmaya Mission.
One person shall be given the charge as the Co-ordinator of the
programmes for the respective centre / city and he / she shall in tandem work
with the State Co-ordinator and others in the Mission.
This is essentially a teamwork, where the importance is for the sense
of sacrifice one shall make towards the cause - where duty overrides
rights. The Co-ordinator must be a person who is capable of building team
work and who evinces a lot of love and joy in the work.
The aim of the Geeta Chanting Competition is to ensure that as many
children as possible chant Srimad Bhagawad Geeta. The children who have not
memorised the given portion will not be selected for the next level
competition. However, these children should be encouraged to do better in
the coming years.
Funds
It is essential that the whole programme shall be funded
locally. Practical target on the number of children to be aimed for, shall
be set and the budget worked out along with Mission Members. Sponsors,
Philanthropists can be approached with the project and support sought. Each
student entering the Preliminary Round Competition shall pay a nominal
amount and this money shall be utilised for the respective City Level
Competition. This is mandatory.
Separate accounts shall be maintained in a bank, to be operated
jointly by the Co-ordinator and one nominated office bearer of the local
Chinmaya Mission. The final accounts of the income and expenditure shall be
submitted to the respective Mission
centre, Swamiji / Swaminiji in charge of the centre as soon as the
competition is over.
Whatever has been mentioned is only indicative and
not exhaustive. Cosmetic changes can be made to suit the local customs and
conditions. However in the light of experience gained over two decades, it
is found that the conducting of Geeta Chanting Competition is a very joyful
"Yagna" type of activity which leaves a lot of positive thoughts
and fragrances behind.
Missionary sense of belonging and zeal are found to be increasing at
the Centres where Geeta Chanting Competitions are held. More than anything
else, a dream of Pujya Gurudev that one day every child in the world shall
learn Bhagawad Geeta, is slowly but surely and steadily achieved.
