Britney in Japanby S. Heinz Fujimoto Well the day finally came... Britney Spears visited Japan as part of her whirl-wind tour of the world. Maybe you don't Well, now you may ask, "What is Britney doing in Japan?" Well, as always, she makes appearances to promote her upcoming movies, music and anything else Britney. Her most recent visit, in April of 2002 consisted of her arriving amid a throng of paparazi, being whisked away by seven limousines and making numerous appearances across Tokyo and other venues to get in touch with her fans (who are called 'Mee-Briti-Fon'). Actually, Britney's been here before and she is loved by her devoted Japanese fans. During May of last year, Britney stopped by the island to promote her 'Oops! I did it again' album. Over 1 million Japanese fans, young and old turned out for the event. Actually, some of the signs that were promoting her throughout the country mispelled her Japanese name and hence caused some confusion. Instead of promoting Britney, the pop singing superstar, it translated into saying that there would be free 'Bin-De' which is a very rare, herbal treatment used to loosen the joints and believed to hold Viagra-like powers. Instead of the usual thousands of young girls, there were approximately 500,000 men in their thirties there. Either way, all were treated to a spectacular show.
