TOP STORY: SCNK DEMANDS RETURN OF MEGUMI YOKOTA REMAINS
STALINISTS INFURIATE JAPAN WITH ABDUCTION LIES; SANCTIONS MAY BE COMING
With the diplomatic version of unmitigated gall, Stalinist-controlled northern Korea demanded the return of human remains it gave to Tokyo (BBC).  The remains supposedly belonged to Megumi Yokota, a Japanese citizen abducted by the Stalinists in 1978.  The remains have been found to belong to several people, none of them Yokota.

SCNK continued their deception, claiming that the remains are genuine and . . . Megumi Yokota's husband has asked for them back.  The regime claims Yokota killed herself in 1993, but the continuing lies have led many to believe she and seven other dead abduction victims are still alive.  Five other abductees were allowed to return to Japan.

In response, Hiroyuki Hosoda, who as Chief Cabinet Secretary is Japans de facto Deputy Prime Minister, made a demand that SCNK return the survivors a clear sign that Tokyo will no longer accept the regimes claim that the eight abductees still in SCNK are dead and warned of stern measures (Voice of America via
Epoch Times), if the regime refused.

The abduction issue is one with a long and, for Japan, painful history, as shown in previous
Northern Korea Reports: 9/23/02, 9/30/02, 10/7/02, 10/14/02, 10/21/02, 10/28/02, 11/18/02, 12/19/02, 5/24, 7/19, 7/27, 8/10, 10/11, 11/29, 12/6, 12/13, and 12/20.

Stop the SCNK Nuclear Power Plants:
Are the plants dead or arent they?  You can make sure they dont come back!  Use this China e-Lobby fact sheet and tell the President to kill the power plants from the 1994 agreement that SCNK broke.

ROK APPOINTS NEW AMBASSADOR TO UNITED STATES
The Republic of Korea (South Korea) appointed Hong Seok-hyun head of the group that owns the JoongAng Ilbo newspaper as its new ambassador to the United States.  While the president who appointed him, Roh Moo-hyun, is a notorious dove on SCNK, the hawkish opposition Grand National Party also approved of the selection (Washington Times).

OTHER NEWS ON COMMUNIST CHINAS ROLE
REFUGEES IN CANADIAN EMBASSY FLOWN TO FREEDOM
Forty-four refugees from Stalinist-controlled northern Korea who have been holed up in the Canadian Embassy in Beijing since September were flown to an undisclosed third country (BBC).  This means they will be spared repatriation, which is what Communist China does with any SCNK refugee it can find that doesnt reach a democratic embassy first.

The Communist policy of forced repatriation and the torture the refugees face once they are back in the Stalinists clutches has led hundreds of thousands of refugees to live as nonpersons in the PRC (see
5/13/02, 5/20/02, 5/28/02, 6/18/02, 7/29/02, 9/9/02, 9/16/02, 1/20/03, 7/12, 7/27, 8/2, 9/6, and 10/4 NKRs).
