Grandaddy

Grandaddy: May 29, 2001

I've seen these guys before. They were really good before, but they weren't as good as this. This was an awesome show.

The lead singer, Jason, might have a slight phobia about being on stage. He seems to hide behind his keyboards. That's ok though. They still rocked.

They had a huge screen behind them that showed random film clips. They also had a nice batch of lights that made it all seem very rock and roll.

For the encore, they did "He Stopped Loving Her Today" by George Jones, it was awesome. They also did "A.M. 180" and "Summer Here Kids," two of my fav Grandaddy songs.

They did lots of stuff off the first album, as well as favorites from the new one. We got "Hewlet's Daughter" "Dial-A-View" and "Aim Toward the Sky." I told Lucas that "Aim" was like an indie-rock Marvin Gaye song. It's up there with "Let's Get It On" especially if the girl has thick glasses and a Pavement t-shirt on. It was a fine, fine show.
