They Are Children

In these pages you will find the stories
of loving, caring people; parents, grandparents, and other kinship caregivers,
who have been abused by the practices of the Child Protective Services
in their State.
Some made innocent mistakes like asking
for a little help. Some are victims of the viciousness of people making
erroneous reports. As you continue to read these heartbreaking stories,
you will realize that it can happen to you at any moment.
This page exists because we wish to
make changes to the system that is supposed to keep the Best Interests
of
our children at the forefront of their investigations, and instead is guilty
of abuse as damaging to these children as that it is supposed to protect
them from.
Eventually we will be taking these
stories and any more we can collect to the government offices responsible
for making these changes.
These Are Children
Not Statistics

Children die every day because
they were returned to the homes of abusive parents. Children are subjected
to living in foster home after foster home, where they're not loved, instead
of being placed with a family member where love abounds. Some live in foster
homes until they are 18 and graduate to their own recognizance.
Family members that have
reported the abuse are often denied access to the abused child, simply
because they reported the abuse. The priority of Child Protective Services
is to reunify the family, whether it is in the best interest of
the child or not. They routinely shut the kinship caregiver or the concerned
relative out so reunification will not be jeopardized.
Their funding mandates reunification.
It is in violation of
Federal Laws.
Grandparent visitation and/or
placement is protected by Law. States and Counties ignore
that law. Child Protective
Services ignores
that law.
Judges
ignore that law.
Children and Grandparents
need to have these laws enforced, and some others changed. The best interest
of the child needs to become a reality instead of the farce it is
now.
States need to be required
to follow Federal Laws and rulings to the letter. Judges need to
be required to follow LAW instead of politics.
The vagaries that still exist
need to be filled with explicit text to allow for NO INTERPRETATION
by
any
part of the system.
All loopholes need
to be filled.
Children have Constitutional
Rights...the same as adults do. They do not have to reach majority
for most of these Rights to be held paramount. These Rights include an
ongoing relationship with any and all extended family members when these
members do not jeopardize the child's safety and/or well being. You will
find links to this fact on this page and on other pages at this site.
There are several organizations
that are striving to make changes to the laws that are still not placing
the Children's Rights and Best Interests above other considerations. You
will find links to them
on the links pages.
