KINGSVILLE, Texas -- A jury has recommended two life sentences for Glenn Lacy Durham, convicted in the beating death of his 12-year-old son, Clayton.
The jury made the recommendation Thursday. State District Judge Manuel Banales will formally sentence Durham after the end of the trial of Barbara Reyes Perez, Durham's wife, who also is accused of killing her stepson.

Jurors found the 36-year-old Durham guilty of murder and injury to a child on Wednesday. Clayton died June 13 of injuries he received from a blunt object.

Court documents show Clayton was beaten by a belt, a hose, a board and a rock. He was also thrown around a room, causing him to hit his head on the floor and against a washing machine. (Webmaster's Note: Court records also reveal that Child 'Protection' Services were also very aware and involved with this family. The caseworker had many opportunities and cause to remove this child. Clayton died as a result on contributory negligence of this caseworker!)

Nueces County Medical Examiner Lloyd White said Clayton died from bleeding in his brain caused by one or more blows to the head.

According to an affidavit attached to a June 19 search warrant, investigators had heard reports that Ms. Reyes had beaten Clayton with a 3-inch-thick board so hard that the board broke. She then pushed his head underwater in the bathtub, the affidavit stated.

The affidavit also said Ms. Reyes forced Clayton to kneel in a corner and the boy cried because he had open sores on his knees. (Webmaster's Note: Clayton's sister revealed that Clayton shared his fear of 'not making it another month'. Clayton was murdered two weeks after making that statement.)

Two days later, the day Clayton died, Durham beat him with a stick and left him in the bathtub, the affidavit said.

Ms. Reyes' trial began Thursday.
