Intercession

Through prayers of intercession, we play ourselves at God's mercy, and bring the concern's of other's in need.

It is common among Catholics, to place intentions before patron saints, to bring these prayers to Jesus for us. The Blessed Virgin Mary is the greatest intercessor, for she was closest to God's divine son.

Through this type of prayer, we place before Jesus the concerns of our family, freinds, loved ones, or anyone that is in need of prayer. Not just a saint can be an intercessor. A saint living in Heaven can pray for an individual living on earth, but a person living on earth can also pray for the individual who needs it. If in your prayers you bring to Jesus, someone that you know of who is in distress, needs guidance, or anything else you bring before him, you are acting as an intercessor on their behalf.
