The Art of Being . . . Vincent Kartheiser

Curtain Call: "I spent my whole youth onstage. When I was 6, I went to see a play with my parents, and I was so excited I climbed up on the stage during the performance. The director was so mad that he yelled at me. A year later I was Tiny Tim at the Guthrie in Minneapolis. It was really great. I was only 7."

What a Boy Wants: "I really want different things from my career than money and fame. I want other things from life."

It's All in the Family: "My family is a little strange. My sister Elise wrote her first concerto when she was 11. My sister Teresa was painting by the time she was 9, and Andrea was playing cello in the symphony by 15. My brother, Nathan, plays guitar, saxophone and clarinet, and my other sister Colette has been acting her whole entire life."

Fan-demonium: "When I came out of the dressing room of a talk show once, there were literally a hundred teenage girls standing there screaming at me. Having someone say 'I think you're hot' is so bizarre."

Who, me? "Most good actors are really kind of at a loss for who they are. I buy that."
