Vincent Kartheiser: Rebel with a Cause
By Jodi Bryson

Skateboards, long hair, high school and . . . bombs? After you see his new movie Masterminds, Vincent Kartheiser will be your new favorite actor. Here's why.

Vincent Kartheiser hates Hollywood. Which is weird, mainly because Hollywood has him tagged as the next Leonardo DiCaprio, right down to his looks and his lanky limbs. Now throw in a respectable resume of stage and screen credits, and his latest starring role in the teen blockbuster Masterminds, and you gotta wonder if the fame-hating Vinnie isn't in the wrong business. "The last time a girl asked me for my autograph, I told her she was mistaken and that my name was Joe," says the Minnesota-born Kartheiser during an interview in Beverly Hills - a trip he made to promote the fall flick with co-star Patrick Stewart (Captain Picard of Star Trek fame). "Actually, if anyone asks me for my autograph, I'll deny who I am until they give up. I'm mean like that."

Coincidentally, he's cute like that, too. Clocking in at a ripe 18 years old, Kartheiser is a self-described loner who looks like a tall sophomore from your history class (his favorite subject), with perfect, creamy skin, dreamy eyes and very kissable lips. The only visible difference between him and his rebel character Ozzie from Masterminds is the hair - the groovy long locks have been buzzed for a film he's working on, ironically titled The Hairy Bird. "I will definitely be growing the hair out as soon as I'm done with this project," he says while running his huge hands through the chopped chestnut 'do.

So whether he likes it or not, up-and-coming Vinnie is scheduled to be Teen Heartthrob number 485. Make no mistake, when girls see him in the pyro-technic adventure, personally saving a rich-kid private school from a serious Die Hard situation, there will be no denying his babe status - albeit a reluctant babe who won't be indulging his fans by showing up for his own premieres, posing for the paparazzi or fessing up about what he looks for in a female. "I could have four girlfriends but I wouldn't tell you," he teases with an award-winning grin. "But I don't. My life is so boring. I don't do anything." Except, of course, make big-budget films with big stars. But modesty will get a guy everywhere and Kartheiser is about to make an explosive blast to the top.

Can you say "hot"?
