Interview with The Big Hit Magazine (Australia)

BH: Does it feel odd to be so popular in a country that you've never been to?
Vincent: Am I really popular over there? Wow! Do you have a crush on me? It's really weird, thats strange...I should really go over there, shouldn't I?!
BH: Yep! Last time we spoke you said you'd come to Australia, if someone paid for your air fare. Well, a big hit reader (Sarah Michael from Victoria) wrote in offering to pay for your trip!
Vincent: Yeah? I'll come! Send me a ticket and I'm there. That's pretty shocking! Thats really shocking, because in America, none of my movies have ever made money - they've all lost money. Here, I've maybe been in 5 magazines in my entire life! Most of my friends are bigger names than me. So it's really shocking and i think it's terrific! Australia knows what's going on, hey?!
BH: What kind of fan mail do you get?
Vincent: I don't get any fan mail.
BH: I think you'll be getting some from Australia very shortly!
VK: Oh really?! It's kinda nice. Three years ago, i had a rush of fan mail, and six different people kept involved with me and kept writing to me, but since then, one really.
BH: Are you coming out for the Olympics?
Vincent: Oh yeah. when's that? Oh gosh, there's all these reasons to come to Australia then, isn't there?! Let me tell you, O love to travel...especially when I'm not paying! They can get a fund together - the Vincent Kartheiser Ticket Fund!
BH: Do you get recognized in the street?
Vincent: I never get recognized. I have to come to Australia - I might have more luck! The only time I get recognized is if I go to a movie that I'm in and I stand out and smile at everyone! That's when all my friends go with me so they can say, "Hey Honey! Wanna meet a star?"
BH: A lot of your costars in The Hairy Bird have had success in other roles -have you seen any of them since?
Vincent: Yeah, I've seen Monica Keena (Abby in Dawsons Creek). We talk once every couple of months. She's doing good. And whenever I go up to Toronto, I call up the Flat Critters (his gang in the movie) and go out and cause trouble with them.
BH: The last time we spoke, you revealved you had a crush on Monica - do you have an ulterior motive for talking to her on the phone so much?
Vincent: She's totally aware of my ulterior motives! I never hide them. I think Monica is beautiful, i think she's sweet, i think she's great, and she knows that! But she knows that if she would have me, I would, definitely!
BH: Do you watch her on Dawson's Creek?
Vincent: No, I haven't seen her in Dawson's Creek! She asks me that everytime time I call her too! "Have you seen my show yet?" and I'm like, "I usually can't make it through the first couple of minutes!" That and the fact that I don't own a TV!
BH: Is it true you used to date Rachael Leight Cook (from She's All That and another Hairy Bird co-star)?
Vincent: A long, long time ago. When I was 15. Rachael and I dated. We spoke a year ago, but I haven't seen her in ages.
BH: Are you dating anyone at the moment?
Vincent: No, I'm not. I'm single and alone!
BH: Will you be moving to Hollywood soon?
Vincent: No, I'm staying in Minnesota. The reason I live here is so I can keep my personal life to me.
BH: Do you have a message for your Australian fans?
Vincent: Call me when that plane ticket is ready, and i'll come out and you guys can throw a big party for me!
