Interview By Melanie Griffith

Melanie: What are you doing in Seattle?

Vincent: I'm doing this really small independent feature. I'm just doing a cameo for two days.

Melanie: Is it cool?

Vincent: Yeah, it's cool. It's called Preston Tylk (aka Bad Seed). It's about these...it's very long story. I don't know if you really want to hear this. Melanie: Well, a little bit. Who's directing?

Vincent: Jon...what's his last name? Um, I just found out about this three days ago. Here we go: It's Jon Bokenkamp. (laughing) He's directing it.

Melanie: Why did you say "yes" to doing it?

Vincent: Well, I loved the script. It's about this cat who finds out that his wife has been cheating on him, and so he leaves her. When he comes back, she's dead, and he sees this car leaving. He's pretty sure that it's the guy she's been cheating on him with driving away.

Melanie: Right.

Vincent: So the husband finds his house. The husband goes in and stabs the guy to death while he's sleeping. But it turns out that he actually kills the guy's retarded brother. All of this has been recorded on video tape. Now the other guy has a blackmail tape on the husband.

Melanie: Oh, no!

Vincent: So the husband goes and hires this private detective, played by Dennis Farina. He was in Get Shorty. I play this night school kid who just helps him out of this crunch.

Melanie: Well, that's cool.

Vincent: I stitch up their wounds and lead them on their way. Have you been working a lot?

Melanie: I just got back from working in London. I love London. Antonio [Banderas] and I got married in London. I'm going to start another movie soon, but we're not talking about me here! I miss you.

Vincent: I miss you. I called your people and asked if I could get your number. No one ever gave it to me.

Melanie: I'll call back and give it to you. Do you like the Internet?

Vincent: Yeah, but I always break my computers. I've gotten three computers, and I've broken all of them. I'm really bad with them.

Melanie: Let me ask you some more questions. Were you at all intimidated by working with Jimmy Woods?

Vincent: Yeah, I'm always intimidated with actors, but with James Woods especially. He's a very fine actor. Very good, very intense.

Melanie: Why did you want to become an actor?

Vincent: Gosh. I don't know. That's kind of like asking someone why they're gay. I enjoy acting. I've just always done it.

Melanie: It wasn't a decision between something else, right? Either I'm going to be an actor or I'm going to be a doctor.

Vincent: That's a good question. Everyone chooses things in their life that they either realize they excel at, or they take the time out of their life to be able to excel at and...Oh, my God! (laughing) I just threw a cigarette out the window that I hadn't lit yet!

Melanie: What was your first acting job?

Vincent: I was Tiny Tim at the Guthrie in Minneapolis. It was really great. I was only seven. I spent my whole youth on stage, and I've always loved it. I enjoy performing. You can't stop.

Melanie: I loved working with you. Do you like Seattle?

Vincent: I haven't been able to get out yet. I got in yesterday, and I've just been working all day.

Melanie: Oh, right. You're only there for two days. Antonio made Assassins up there. We had a house on the lake, and we would go water-skiing everyday. It was great.

Vincent: Yeah, I should check that out.

Melanie: How old are you?

Vincent: I turned twenty on May 5th. Cinco de Mayo. Melanie: Wow! Do you still fence?

Vincent: I haven't done that in a long time. I was doing it with some extras on the set today. That was kind of fun. I've taken a year off from fencing, but I really want to get BAck into it.

Melanie: You can come and fence with Antonio.

Vincent: Man, I don't know. He plays with a saber. He'd take me out. I don't know if I'm ready to be fencing with Antonio Banderas quite yet.

Melanie: I think he would love it. What's Ricky 6?

Vincent: I finished Ricky 6 in October. It's a pretty cool little thing. It's basically about Satan worship and murder.

Melanie: They guy who wrote Flatliners directed?

Vincent: Peter Filardi. He wrote The Craft, too. He's a pretty great guy. It was great to come off a movie like Another Day in Paradise and go into an experience like Ricky 6 because they were totally different. It made me happy to go back to work.

Melanie: Are you coming to LA?

Vincent: I should fly out there on Sunday, I think.

Melanie: Will you call me? Antonio is shooting in Las Vegas, and I'm going up. I'll be back Sunday night, but do you want to come over for dinner? Do you have my number?

Vincent: No.

Melanie: I'll call you back and give it to you.

Vincent: Promise?

Melanie: Promise.
