Owner Biography
Shannon grew up in California. Her love of horses and riding started at the age of two. In college she competed in the mounted drill team and IHSA circuit at California Polytechnic University of Pomona California and IHSA Equestrian team at Colorado State University. She is a graduate of Colorado State University with a B.S. in Equine Science administered by CSU College of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. Her schooling and expertise is in Equine Reproduction and Equine Neonatal Care. After college, she fitted yearling race horses for sale, was the Breeding Supervisor and live in Veterinary Technician at several large scale horse breeding farms throughout the United States. She managed the health care of herds of 200-300 horses, foaled out broodmares, weaned & halter broke foals, formulated special rations, and collected & trained stallions for breeding. Some of the famous stallions she has had the opportunity to breed were Dash For Cash, Special Effort, Streakin Six, and Strawfly Special. Shannon has extensive field experience in breeding (palpations, collection & semen evaluation, artificial insemination, caslic sutures, and foaling), treating equine colic and diseases as well as assisted resident Veterinarian's in colic surgeries.

Shannon is now settled in Gustine, California with her horses and the love of her life William Cherry. Shannon Von Gutierrez and William Robert Cherry married on April 24th, 2004 on the couple's ranch. In 2006, the couple had their first child. The family now operates the Cherry Stables boarding facility for residents of Central Valley and are happy to serve the horse community.
