Ask us about our EGM senior feed for your senior horse or hard keeper.
Frequently Asked QuestionsWhat type of hay do you feed the horses? Cherry Stables managers feed winter forage (wheat, barley, oat mix) hay two times a day or winter forage in the morning and alfalfa in the evening depending on your request. Our grass turn out field is seeded with natural clover and grasses to provide the best vitamins and minerals for the horses. Assistance can be provided in generating a balanced ration for your horse using the Nutrient Requirements for Horses feed analysis created by the National Research Counsil. Feeding Program:
Do you have pasture boarding? Due to client requests, Cherry Stables now offers pasture board. Our mini pastures are seeded with Bermuda grass, fenced with four rail post and board, and Horseguard electric tape. The horses have plenty of room to play in their 40'x200' runs. What type of soil and footing do you have in the turn out fields and arenas? The property top soil is a combination of clay and silt. The grazing areas, turnout and pastures do not contain sand and therefore psyllium supplements are not needed. The main arena is native dirt and the round pen is sand. The large arena is grass turf. Do you offer riding lessons? Riding instructors, trainers, and exercise riders are available and outside trainers are welcomed at Cherry Stables. Cherry Stables does not charge a commision on revenue generated on the Cherry Stables property for horses boarded at the facility. Can we use our Veterinarian/Farrier/Trainer? Owners may use any vet or farrier and may invite their own trainer to give them lessons here at the stable. The Trainer must have insurance and be approved in writing by Stable Management prior to training/lessons. Are there any riding trails? A trail course is set up at the west side of the arena and you can ride in the back field. The nearest trail from the property is 3 miles outside of Cherry Stables. The outside trail is 20 miles round trip. Can I ride my horse in the evenings? The Cherry Stables facility is fully lighted. We have arena lights, a large round pen light, driveway entry lights and Veterinarian/farrier area lights. Night riding is encouraged. Are helmets and boots required? Helmets and riding boots are required for children under the age of 18 years old and riders jumping on the facility. Please see the Helmet safety website for Equestrian Helmet requirements at http://www.bhsi.org/other.htm#horse. Is the Cherry Stables facility licensed and insured? If so, do I need insurance on my horse? Cherry Stables is licensed with Merced County and follows state and county Environmental Health, Fire Department, and Road Division regulations and carries general boarding facility insurance. We recommend for Horse Owners to insure their horse(s) under a private policy. What about natural disasters?
The new horse barn is built in all metal and the electrical wiring is cased in metal conduit in efforts to reduce fire hazzards. In the winter, rain water flows through the stable irrigation ditches to the neigboring property. The horses will remain in the stalls and water is pumped through the water ditches during heavy winters. If there is an earthquake, we hope to have beach front property for trail riding. In event of a major disaster, we can transport the horses to one of our sister ranches . An emergency exit diagram is provided to you in your Cherry Stables Welcome Package. Please read the safety guidelines in your Welcome Package carefully.
