SAKURA IN
JAPAN
Hello, there! My name is Sakura. "Sakura" is a Japanese name that my mother named me. It means Cherry blossoms. If you are Japanese, of course, you know what it means, if you are not Japanese, now you know! Spring is one of my favorite seasons in Japan. Cherry trees are all over in the places and when it starts to bloom, we all know Spring is here. That's the time we all celebrate Spring and enjoy our lives. I haven't been in the cherry blossom season in Japan for almost 10 years. I miss them, I miss the time when families and friends get together under the trees celebrating Spring, I miss the atmosphere that everybody is in a festive mood and I miss beautiful flowers bloom all together to let us know that Winter is over! That's the time when "Sakura" blooms. That's why I made this website to remind me of the happy days I had spent there when I was a child. Also, to share my memories with others who don't know what it is like to be in Japan in Spring! NY has a very long Winter....it is the time for us to think about nice and warm beautiful days!

These are pictures of Sakura (cherry blossoms)
in Japan. The word hanami literally means "looking at flowers." We
usually refer hanami to viewing cherry blossoms in Spring. This is
the season for a party under the cherry trees and we celebrate Spring.
People go picnicking under blossoms; eating and drinking sake. Famous
places with many cherry trees are always crowded with families and friends.
Since cherry blossoms bloom only for a week or so, depend on weather;
therefore it is often difficult view them in full bloom on weekends. Their
short life is another attractive feature of cherry blossoms....

There are pictures of Sakura (me!) in Japan. I visit there once in a blue moon to see my mother and old friends. My mother put me on a kimono (it's hard to wear it by themselves, and takes time to put it on!). I love them. It makes me feel different. Nowadays we only wear them on special occasions such as New Year's Day, Coming-of-Age Day or Wedding receptions. My mother loves kimonos and she collects many of those. I also like yukata that is made of cotton, and is very comfortable to wear in Summer. Yukata is less complicated than kimono to wear, but it is still hard to wear by myself. I love both of them, because that make me feel I am still very much Japanese!

There are my favorite links. The information of the United Nations, Cherry blossoms in NY, my school (John Jay College of Criminal Justice), etc... | ||

This is a short story page..... My interest and one of today's serious concerns among people in the nations. I was born in Japan and grew up in different countries, including the United States of America. All the countries I have lived are developed nations and people have no problem getting food, houses and jobs. Also, our governments give us adequate security and protection for our lives. However, we should not forget that while we are blessed with our meals and health, there are people who are suffering from their nations' poverty. They can not even get a minimum adequate medical care, health care, food, shelters and jobs. In some country, many young children are carrying machine guns to protect themselves and their families on the street while our children are studying at school. There are something I learned from the United Nations and am willing to continue learning from them.... |

Kate and Baby is my Cats. A gray chubby one is Baby. She was born in
february,1999. A black slim one is her brother, Kate, and was born in June,
1999. I was not really fond of cats before, but my roommate had a cat (their
mother) at that time. When she gave birth to kittens, my roommate was
traveling around and barely stayed home.... So, I had to take care of them.
They started following me around the house and snuggling down in my bed...
Ah, here I am, I can not live without them. Now, kate, baby and I are living
together in our sweet home.
