The Mississippi River flows along the Western border of Wisconsin, carrying a busy barge traffic. I t also forms a major route for migratory birds, the Mississippi Flyway.

Among these many birds are the whooping cranes. These large white birds, once on the verge of extinction migrate from Florida to the North West corner of Prince Albert national Park. These were photographed at the International Crane Foundation center, which is located between Baraboo and Wisconsin Dells in South Central Wisconsin.

Wisconsin Dells is a resort, best known for its world war two ducks. These enable the lower gorge to be visited.

The Riverside and Great Northern is a miniature railway in Wisconsin Dells running along the former Milwaukee Road trackbed. Deborah watches as a 1950's diesel switcher is turned.

Supurb models of an earlier age also on the R&GN.
