Take a one minute holiday in New York.

New York is large. The State extends as far as Canada, so part of Niagara Falls is in New York State. However, just across the Hudson River from Mannhatten, you are out of New York State and into New Jersey, so while Niagara is in New York, the Statue of Liberty isn't. New York City has several boroughs, but the one everyone thinks of is Mannhatten, which is an island between the East and West Hudson Rivers. Avenues run the length of the island, generally North-South while streets run east-west. Mannhatten Island is longer than the Isle Of Wight and about a quarter the size of Prince Edward Island in Canada.

New York considers itself to be the capital of the world as it is home to both the United Nations and the World Trade Center. Michael is outside the United Nations on the East Side of Matthatten Island.

Ground zero, the site of the twin towers, is almost at the South end of the Island in the financial district and is on the west side. The traffic signal is at the edge of the site.

Time Square is about 40 streets further north, always full of bustle. It is America's Piccadilly circus.

About another 40 streets north is the Metropolitan Art Museum. While it is a city of art lovers, most of these people are waiting to see Jennifer Lopez, the "Maid in Manhatten".

Central Park backs onto the Art Museum, and as the name suggests is in the middle of Manhatten. Click on the toy yacht below to visit Central Park.
