Our Vows

In that part of the ceremony before we exchanged rings, we each read to each other special vows we had prepared. These are the actual vows we read on the day we wed, so whatever errors of grammar or syntax you may find have not been corrected.

Melvin's Vow

My princess Cheremyn,

Right now I am obviously overwhelmed by the reality that we are actually here in this beautiful place to fulfill our dreams for so long. It has been such a nice, beautiful and sweet wait. Growing and struggling with you are truly blessed experiences. God is evidently good to us. He allowed us to meet early in our lives and brought us close to each other graciously, sparing us unwanted heartaches. With this, we know fully well now and understand that even if we may not have all the riches in the world, having each other makes all the tough situations worth it. With our relationship and our future family in the holy palm of God's hands, I know that we are not to worry that much.

My memory is fresh about the time when we were children, and I remember every moment with sincere gratitude to God. When I first saw you, I had a strong feeling and faith that one day we would lovingly share something together. Whether it was a sense of a strong friendship or a romantic relationship, I got the assurance that we would establish a very special connection. And today, we have proven to the world that it is possible to establish a relationship free from unfaithfulness and broken vows regardless of time and space. Truly, everything depended on the will of the Almighty God and not on earthly standards.

You are everything to me. In other words, you are my everything. All of my plans and activities revolve around you. God is definitely gracious because He has gifted me an unqualified companion in this world just like what God has done for the very first man, Adam, when he was given the first woman, Eve. It will not be too much to say that I would probably not last a day without you which makes me believe that this is why God has given you to me.

My promise to you comes as a vow --- that I will truly strive to be the totality of your dreams. I will lovingly try to listen to you even when you deal on things that would only be interesting to women. I will always strive to tell you the truth --- that you are beautiful even when your self esteem or Kris Aquino declares otherwise. You will always be my gauge for female beauty. I will be doubly patient even when you become somewhat clumsy or spill coffee on my lap every time and again. I will do my best to always side with you during joke times and moments of "kantiyawans" with our associates and friends. I will chew and appreciate whatever you prepare on the table and value whatever you touch to make our home the best place to live in. My prime ambition is to be an above board and great father to our children. I will be loyal to you just as I have always been when we were in our single-blessedness relationship. I am with the unusual thought that I am madly in-love with you until I am not able to remember my own name anymore. You will be more than my Juliet and I am your unusual Romeo, my revered Luthien and I your caring Beren, my blessed Arwen and I your special Aragorn, my searching Ruth and I your providing Boaz, my undoubting Rebecca and I your faithful Isaac. I will emulate the love of our Lord Jesus for the church and will neither leave you nor forsake you. No matter what, I will be at my best always as a good husband and friend to you.

With God's help and in the essence of my faith in the divine Lord I will fulfill these promises. As long as we put our lives under His control, I believe that everything will be in order. May God shower his blessings to our union forever.

Your prince,
Melvin

Cheremyn's Vow

Melvin, for nine years we have been together sharing beautiful and meaningful experiences. You have seen my strengths and my weaknesses, my bad side and my good side, and still you accepted me for who I am.

Now, I stand before our family and friends and most importantly our Lord to take you to be my husband and give to you all that I am and all that I have.

I will strive to become a Supportive, Understanding and Godly wife, submitting to your loving leadership as unto Christ.

I will daily seek wisdom in ministering to your emotional, spiritual, physical and intellectual needs. I will affirm you, encourage you and edify you. I will always remain faithful to you. I vow that I will never purposefully hinder the Holy Spirit in our relationship. I will COME to you with a vulnerable, teachable spirit ready to respond to your nurturing love. I will COMmunicate with you consistently, offering you honesty and respect. I will Seek out the constructive resolution of conflict between us, always looking out for your best interest.

I love you and I plan on loving you with all the love that God can give me.
