The Stars for a Light

Book Review - by Lauren aka Elven Princess Of The Sea

I liked this book because it showed a lot about how a woman in Cheney's time was not always accepted for jobs because of her gender or in society because she was a woman doing what was considered a man's job. Cheney took the job on a ship full of mail-order brides called "Mercer's Belles" because no one else had offered her such a position and the ship needed a doctor.

Like Cheney, I was surprised that Shiloh was her nurse after she talked so much about waiting for her.

By the end of the novel, Cheney is considered to be somewhat of a mail-order bride herself. Here

I realized that Cheney and Shiloh would have some sort of relationship while juggling it with work.        My teacher recommended that I read this and I'm sure glad she did.
