About the site builder,
Kevin Johnson:
I fell in love with chemistry when I took it in high school. It always had the perfect combination of science and math (my two favorite subjects!). I also love HTML (website building). When my mother made me get a hobby when I was about 10, I chose HTML. On June 2002, when I had to start thinking about a project I had to do for Scholars Plus, I knew I had to do something I loved. Well I loved Chemistry, and I also loved building websites, so I thought why not build a webite about... chemistry! It clicked in my head, and nearly a year later its here!
I approached this project in 4 steps:
- Write down all the lessons spanning high school chemistry.(THE HARDEST)
- Put the lessons in HTML format
- Find Webspace and advertizers
- Put together entire website
As I approached the project, It wasnt that bad. It turned out to be a interesting experience for me.
Im doing pretty well for a high school student, although I have so much stuff to do! Along with being in Scholars plus, Im also in National Honor Society, Medical Academy, French Club, Set Construction (we build the set for the school play!), along with Tennis (in which I suck!). My favorite class of my junior year will have to be either my Inro. Calculus, or A.P. U.S. History Class.
Soon as I graduate high school in 2004, I plan to go to college to become a doctor. Im not sure which college, although I am going to apply to both Yale and Cornell Universities. In my undergrad, of course, Im majoring in pre-medicine, but Id also like to get a double-major in Biochemistry, along with a few minors in biology, physics, French, and education. In med school, Id like to specialize in emergency medicine, but I would also like to go into research.
