To fulfill the aims and objectives of the Society already nine branches are being establishedInnovations in teaching chemistr in the colleges of different localities in Assam. This year branches in all the forty colleges having three year degree courses in Assam will be established. These branches will have Management Councils with members as follows: (a) President (b) Vice Presidents (a) General Secretary (c) Joint Secretaries (d) Treasurer (e) Local auditor (f) Members- teachers from the college, local higher secondary schools, high schools, secondary schools, primary schools, retired teachers, Industrialists, social activists or any other member the Society considers important for fulfilling the objectives in a local perspective. Mangement Couuncil of Society for Chemical Education is located at the department of chemistry, Gauhati University.First biennial conference was held at M.C.College, Barpeta in 1992. Second biennial cobferebce at Department of Chemistery, Gauhati University in 1994. 3rd biennial confeence was held at Tezpur Govt.Higher Secondary School in 1994. 4th and fifth biennial conferences were organized at the department of chemistry, Gauhati University in1998 and 2000. SIXTH BIENNIAL CONFERENCE OF SCE,2005 Date : 10th May 2005 Venue : Dept. of Chemistry, G. U. The sixth biennial conference of the Society for Chemical Education was held under the chairmanship of Prof. K. G. Bhattacharyya, President of the SCE. The general Secretary first read out the report of the Society for the period 18th Nov’2002 to 10th May 2005. The Report was accepted by the members of the General Body. Then the Treasurer of the SCE placed the audited receipt and payment account for the year 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004. The reports were accepted by the General Body. After that the Old Management council was dissolved and the New Management council was elected. The memersnew Management Council members are –

In any other matter, Prof. P. K. Sarma suggested publication of the Chemistry Terminology compiled by late Prof. Ramesh Baruah and suggested publication of a book on Nobel laureate. Dr. Nibedita Mahanta promised to do the needful to expand the base of SCE at Jorhat and promised to carry the message of writing on chemistry to others. Prof. P L. Goswami suggested that the old proposal to have a unit of SCE at Cotton college be reactivated. Prof. Dilip Kalita also suggested that a branch of SCE should be started at Dibrugarh University and seminar/ workshop etc should be held. Mr. Hiten Deka made suggestion for holding seminar/ workshop etc at District level. Then the new General Secretary and the President solicited the help of all Life Members for all round development of the society. The meeting ended with presidential address and vote of thanks.
