Golden Jubilee of Chemistry Dept. 2005

The Society organizes National Science Day on 28 February every year as a participant on the program initiated by National Science Communication Centre of Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.

1.Science day 1992-Science Education-debate and essay competition.Tarini Chaudhuri Higher Secondary and Multipurpose School was the venue.

2. Science Day 1993 -Popularisation of Science, environmental awareness, renewable energy and futurology. Venue- Department of Chemistry, M.D,College, Barpeta

3.Science Day 1994 Entrepreneurship for chemistry students. Sri G.C.Goswami, Refinery Chemist, Digboi amnd Polymerized chain reaction Dr. Nandita Banerjee, U.S.A. Venue  Department of Chemiostry, Gauhati University.

4. Science Day 1995 Vegetarian Diet is good for health. Dr.S.C.Goswami, GauhatiMedical CollegeVenue- Kamrup Academy Higher Secondary and Multipurpose School, Guwahati.

5. Science Day 1994 Science For Human Welfare, Pabitra Kumar Sarma.Venue- Department of Chemistry, Gauhati University,

6. Science Day 1997 India Can Do It. Debating Competition and popular talk.

7. Science Day 1998 Fifty Years of Science and Technology in India, Quiz,Extempore Speech, Model Exhibition.Venue- Department of Chemistry, Gauhati University.

8. Science Day 1999 Harnessing Information Technology, Demonstration on networking by N.Das, Scientific Officer, ASTEC, Silpukhuri, Guwahati.

9,Science Day 2000 was held at Gauhati University Model High School on 28 February, 2000 on Theme: Recreating interest and Excitement in basic sciences Essay Competition on 'Science and Technology on the threshold of Twenty First Century'- 24 Essays received from different schools of Greater Guwahati.

Science quiz was the special attraction of the Science Day. Prizes were distributed to the winners of (1) Quiz and (2) Essay competition .

10. Science Day 2001 is being organized on theme 'Information Technology for Science Education'. A special issue on Chemistry Education, Vol.11, No.1, 2001 is being published along with SCE NEWS LETTER, Vol.2, No.1, 2001 as Science Day Supplement on Science Day.
