| Jan 14-18: Rifle Range/Martial Arts: Lcpl Crossland qualified as an expert rifleman. The new Marine Corps martial arts program was instituted in H & S Co, 2/2. Cpl Syring and Lcpl Crossland both qualified as tan belts. Jan 20th: New NBC NCO Checks In: Originally from Indiana, Cpl P.S. Harrel joins us from 2d Marine Regt NBC. He's got some big shoes to fill (Cpl Syring's), but we're excited to have him on the team. Welcome Aboard! Get ready to run! . Feb 1-13: Gas the Rifle Companies: Golf went to the gas chamber. Above the chamber door is the ominous phrase "Even the brave cry here!" Fox company was gassed at Verona during ambush training. Echo, gluttons for punishment, did both the chamber and tactical NBC operations at Combat Town. Oorah! Feb 20: Pistol Qualification: The NBCO qualified as a high expert again. That's the tenth time out of ten attempts, including one medal in Division competition. Mar 8-25: Fort A.P. Hill BLT 2/2 went to AP Hill as relatively untested group. Comraderie grew through the two weeks of live fire exercises, obstacle courses, and field living. We returned as a fully functional landing team, ready to do what we must for God, Country, and Corps. The gas chamber flourished. NBC gassed Wpns company so hard that residual on 1stSgt Berry was enough to choke the command post 12 hours later. YEAH! Pics being scanned. Apr: PHIBRON/MEU Integration Training This is a week long training evolution aboard ship where the Marine and Navy staffs try to work together. It's usually pretty interesting. This one was no exception with plenty of lessons learned. Click on the photo to find out more about the USS Nassau. May 6-31 Enhanced NBC Training From an NBC perspective, this training was awsome! Also in May, MOPP4 Joe made his debut with 2/2 NBC. Instantly popular with all the Marines, MOPP4 Joe will be joining us on the float. You have to see Joe's exploits to believe them. Click on this link. June: ARGEX/Embark/SOCEX Back aboard ARG shipping, the Bn did several exercises. NBC did split ops. The NBCO went aboard USS Austin in support of a company attack on a site containing nerve agent. The NCO and NBC Specialist went in support of a simulated embassy staff, providing instruction to the State Dept. NBC efforts were "Noteworthy"! Good job guys! |
