Sign Up Sheet
Dear Volunteers-
Thanks for your continued patience with our "move." Some things are taking more time than we expected but we are getting there! You can mail your signups to us at the Alexander Center address or at Maryvale. However, please continue to contact us by phone at OUR ORIGINAL PHONE NUMBER: 897-7207 EXT. 17
IMPORTANT: DO NOT SHOW UP FOR AN ACTIVITY IF YOU HAVE NOT SIGNED UP FOR IT!! If you do you will be sent home and/or not get credit for the activity. How to sign up for an activity is stated in our Y.E.S. guidelines and was covered at orientation! Only a DIRECTOR can give permission for you to attend an activity. Unfortunately, we sometimes have to cancel volunteers from activities. We try to go with a first come, frist serve basis. FYI: there is no guarantee what will still be available if you sign up on the last day! We appreciate all of your help but we must limit the number of volunteers for activities.
IF you communicate through email please make sure you check your email on a regular basis- we may respond back to you in regards to your signups!
REMINDER-winter weather is upon us- if in doubt please call our voicemail half an hour before the start of the activity- we will leave a message if the activity is canceled due to weather. Remember-a couple of us don't live in Chtg. & if the weather is bad wehre we are we might not be able to get out here! Thanks!
VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION (Awards Night) will be held on Friday, Feb. 4th at the Maryvale Community Center (our new home)! Check out the social section for details! Hope to see you there!
IF you have an "x" on your mailing label it means we haven't seen you at an activity in approx. 6 months (or longer). Please call us by Fri. Jan. 28th if you would like to remain on our mailing list. We are updating our records. Once you're removed you have to attend orientation to re-join. Thanks!
January/February 2004
We hope all of you had a wonderful holiday!
Thank you to all of you that donated to our collection for the families in need. Your efforts help brighten up many lives this holiday season!
Make sure you check out the new Advisory Board column "AB Xtras". In this newsletter, it talks about the upcoming Awards Night. In addition, we have info regarding Awards Night and the reservation form you need to attend included in your newsletter. We hope to see many of you there!
We would like to thank Kelly McConnell for her years of commitment to the Cheektowaga YES Program. Many of the wonderful things that exist in our program today are in large part to Kelly. She was our fearless leader for many years and when she stepped down, her love of the program motivated her to continue working at activities. Kelly has decided it is time to say good-bye and will be dearly missed. Don't be a stranger Kel- many of us would like to see your smiling face pop in at activities!
Lastly, I (Tina) would like to thank those of you who sent your well wishes, cards, and gifts to celebrate the birth of my second child, Brianna, who was born Oct 23. Your gestures of kindness have been appreciated. I'll look forward to seeing all of you when I get back to doing activities at the end of Jan.
November/December 2003
Happy Holidays!!
It is winter weather time again and there can be activity cancellations due to weather. We will try to contact you ASAP when we do cancel but sometimes we cannot reach you for a variety of reasons so as a back-up we will also put an announcement on our voicemail within a half hour of the beginning of the schedule activity if we are
canceling. So-- if in doubt please don't hesitate calling. Please remember that sometimes we are coming from our homes so events can be cancelled if we cannot get to the activity. Thanks!
As we mentioned before in our Sept/Oct newsletter, we are involved in some community projects for the holidays. We are doing this in conjunction with the Catholic
Charities Cheektowaga Office. Look in your mail in the next few weeks for more info. Don't forget we are
collecting canned goods and donating proceeds from our food sales during the Town Holiday activities the second week in December. We appreciate your help assisting those in need in this community!
Plan ahead! Our Annual Awards Night is scheduled for Friday, February 6th and all the info you will need will be in the Jan/Feb Newsletter- Don't miss
it!
Also, for those of you interested in 'odd jobs' please call the YES office- there are seniors in the community that will be looking for someone to help shovel snow. We will provide the names of our young people who are interested in making some $$$ shoveling to the Senior Center.
Some exciting News: Amanda Wyzykowski, who is a Town Employee, will be assisting with some of our YES activities. She is to be treated as the Director in charge when she is present to run an activity!
September/October 2003
It is back to school time and we hope you have a smooth transition back into your routine. Tons of thanks to all of you who helped us out this summer. We were busy and all of you helped make it a very successful summer!
Just a reminder to any of you who may need paperwork filled out for school, awards, etc. We are happy to do it for you but please try to give us at least a week's notice -- remember, we work crazy hours and we may not always be here it you wait until the last minute. Thanks! Also, as most of you know, I (Tina) am pregnant and I am not due to go out until the end of October, but surprises can happen-- please be flexible with the Directors if there are any last minute cancellations. We will try to avoid them!
In November we will be sending out a mailing to all of you requesting your involvement in our community service projects for the holidays. This would include donations of new, unwrapped toys for ages 1 to 16 and gift cards for families in need. We are working in conjunction with Jerry Kelly from Catholic
Charities Cheektowaga Office. In addition, we will be collecting canned goods and donating the proceeds from our food sales during the Town Holiday
Activities scheduled during the second weekend in December. Look for your letter and please keep us in mind as an opportunity to help those in need in the Cheektowaga Community.
So, we hope all of you enjoy Homecoming, Halloween, and other fall events and remember to keep signing up for activities--- we love to see your smiling faces!!
July/August 2004
Finally-- Summer is here! We have lots of activities scheduled for the next couple of months (as usual)! We look forward to seeing all of you at lots of activities. Please remember that we understand that there are times you need to cancel last minute but whenever possible, please give us notice so we can make sure we have enough help! Also-- Read your newsletter-- make sure you know what time to get dropped off and picked up.
I (Tina) want to thank those who sent me cards and letters while I was having a difficult time during my pregnancy. I am starting to feel better and looking forward to seeing your smiling faces.
Darien Lake is scheduled for the end of July-- there is IMPORTANT info for you to know if you are interesting in going. We must have a minimum number of purchased tickets or the social will be cancelled. Look inside for
necessary info!
