What is the AB you might ask? AB stands for the Advisory Board. The Advisory Board members work with the Directors to help make decisions regarding the Y.E.S. Program. It's not enough just being in Y.E.S. In order to experience the full leadership qualities, you must join AB when the time comes. Of course, don't get us wrong, without the members we would not have a program at all.  It's just that being on Board, you get more experience to become an effective leader.  You use your leadership skills to impact the program by planning activities, socials and fundraisers.  being in AB, you can voice your opinions and add more to the Y.E.S. Program. Elections will be held in August.  Stay tuned!!

Try our Mad Libs!!!!

Joining Advisory Board is (adjective) for your leadership qualities.  Join the (adjective) directors in organizing and (verb + ing) orientation.  Bring your (noun) and (noun) to meetings, and let your(adjective) opinion be heard.  Use your (adjective) knowledge and (verb) us with our (adjective) newsletter column.  I guarantee you (number) percent that being apart of this (adjective) AB Group will be rewarding and will be a plus to your (verb + ing) (noun).

March/April 2004
Thank you to everyone who attended awards night. We hope you enjoyed the evening. We hope to see more of you next year! For those who did not attend, you missed out on a lot of fun! If you want to join in the fun, keep your eyes open for upcoming socials.

We are offering a workshop/social combo in April. This will include a coffee talk and game night. We are doing something special and allowing YES members to being a friend that is not part of the program so everyone can meet new people. It will start with a fantabulous trip to Starbucks in the YES van. Then we will proceed back to Alexander and begin our talk that will include current news worthy items that directly affect teens. This is a great way to share your ideas and beliefs and provoke thought about an abundance of issues. After that we will have our game night, when we will have fun, relax, and get to know other people better. We will have an enthusiastic game of volleyball, Jeopardy, YES Family Feud, and maybe karaoke.

January/February 2004
As you may have already heard, there has been an addition made to the YES Newsletter! This is it! This new column will be written by three different Advisory Board Members and will feature their views on different aspects of the YES Program.

In our first article, we wanted to tell all of you volunteers out there about our fantabulous Awards Night. This is an event you should definitely attend! The evening goes as follows: we have delicious hors d'oeuvres and desserts (provided by the AB), then the Awards Ceremony (which included some goofy awards and a Year in Review Video too), and concludes with music and dancing.

Why should you attend? This is an opportunity to receive recognition for the dedication you have shown as a volunteer, you get a chance to have fun with friends and family, and you get to socialize with other volunteers!

We hope this convinces you to attend Awards Night! If you are a new volunteer or you simply have never gone before, try it out! Once you go, you will understand how fun it it! If you are a volunteer who has attended Awards Night, we hope you will come back again this year! The more the merrier!
