When working on a project such as this, the restraints need to be identified. A list of the restraints encountered thus far:
1. Time: This is a quarter long project. The Kenworth I.E. team hopes to have time to make changes and measure the success of the implantation.
2. Plant Size: This plant is 360,000 square feet. This is fixed, we may suggest some movement of equipment or storage, but overall size is non-negotiable.
3. Employee Union: The employees at Kenworth are a priority of the management. When working with a union, the workers positions and the number of working employees is very rigid.
4. Environmental: The waste produced must be monitored for toxicity, and environmental regulations must be observed.
5. Noise is also an environmental concern. This plant must remain under a certain noise level for the safety of it's employees.
6. Expense: Kenworth did not state a budget. It is assumed that there will be no funding allocations provided. (if changes result in a positive return on investment, some expense money can be provided)
