FEDELMID 'FELIX' CROWLEY

(Fedelmid is Italian for Felic.)

Felix Crowley: (Middle name may have been Charles.)
Born in Ireland about 1834, from County Cork, townland unknown. Son of
James Thomas Crowley and Margaret Clark or Clarke Crowley.
( I am seeking information on James Thomas and Margaret Crowley, born 1800
to 1810. If these names are in your lineage, please e-mail me.)

It is understood that Felix left Ireland at age 15 and spent a year in England.
At age 16 (About 1850) he came to America, point of entry unknown, but presumably
PA. Speculation has it that he either worked his way to America on a ship, or was a
stow-a-way on a ship to America. His name is not found in any of the ship registries
that came to America around 1850. Nor was his name found on the files at Ellis
Island. It is known that he first settled somewhere in PA drilling coal mines.

Nothing much is known of Felix's siblings. It is believed one brother was James Thomas
Crowley, Jr. and one sister was named Rose Crowley.

The 1860 Census of Polk Co., TN, showed Felix as single and living alone in a boarding
house. The 1870 Census of Polk Co.,TN, shows Felix as being married to Martha Curtis
and having children. Felix and Martha must have married in 1861 or 1862.

The 1880 Census of Union Co., GA, shows Felix as being married to Nancy Hill and
their first child age 5. Felix and Nancy must have married about 1872 or 1873.
