Felix

CROWLEY: IRELAND>PA>TN>GA

My Great Grandfather, FELIX CROWLEY was born in County Cork, Ireland, about
1834. As my Grandfather often related to me, Felix came to the USA at the age of 16
(1850) and settled somewhere in Pennsylvania. He was a Geologist/Miner and drilled
many coal mines in the PA area.

Prior to 1860, Felix was summoned to Tennessee by a mining company to see if copper
could be found and the feasibility of mining it. Felix discovered copper and he agreed
to drill a mine at Copperhill, Polk County, TN.

Shortly after arriving in TN, Felix married his first wife, Martha Curtis and fathered
William b. about 1863, James b. 1866/1867 and Lawrence b. 1871. Martha died,
date unknown.

Felix then married Nancy Hill b. 1843, from Knoxville, TN and Frank was born
about 1874. Felix relocated to Union County, Georgia, and was involved with the gold
mines in the area. Here the following children were born: John b. 1876, Rose b. 1878,
Felix, Jr. b. 1880, Margaret b. 1882, Nathan b. 1885, Ernest b. 1888, and Candace
b. 1891. Felix died in 1904 and was buried in Blairsville, Union County, GA.
