Welcome to the home page of Charnwood Ringing Group . We are a group of volunteer licensed ringers (banders) involved in ringing wild birds mainly in the Charnwood district of Leicestershire UK. The most striking habitat is found in  Charnwood forest which includes some wonderful precambrian outcrops. Although our main site (Charnwood lodge) is actually in the forest the district of Charnwood covers a much bigger area and most of our other sites lie within it.
There are a few remnants of open heath with scattered trees. The last few pairs of Tree Pipit in Leicestershire cling on here. In our opinion this is the quintessential bird of Charnwood, and has been chosen as the group's logo.
