Piper is crying over the Book of Shadows as she casts a spell. Picking her finger with a knife, she sobs as the spell brings nothing. Phoebe finds her, but Piper can't understand why they can't use magic to bring Prue back. They have tried every magical way to bring her back, but they haven't succeeded. Tommorrow is Prue's funeral, so they go off to get some sleep. However, unbeknown to Piper, her spell did work in a way, for the magical energy finds its way to a young woman, where it drops a newspaper with Prue's obituary. The woman (Paige) reads the obituary and tells her boss she has to leave. At the manor, the sister's father is waiting as Phoebe goes about the house watering plants and trying to keep busy. Leo enters the room and Cole is with him. Cole has obviously been on the run from the bounty hunters. He says he won't be able to make it to the funeral, evidently the Source is desperately trying to find him and since the sisters no longer possess the Power of Three, they can't protect him. Phoebe says he has to go, she needs him with her. Daryle shows up to offer his condolances, and to tell them that Prue's case has been assigned to another detective. Although Cole and Phoebe aren't worried, Leo and Daryle are, they are worried he might manage to expose them as witched, and Leo remembers what that was like. Piper is up in her room getting ready when Leo comes to get her. She does not want to go, because going would be admitting that Prue is really not coming back, and she could not handle that. Piper says that Prue has always been there her entire life. Piper doesn't know what it is like to live without a sister. Piper asks Leo why he couldn't save Prue as well as her, but Leo says the Elder's don't have that sort of power. She tells Leo he saved the wrong sister, that Prue was the best of them. Meanwhile, in the underworld, Oracle (a female demon who can prophesize) talks to the Source. She says she has news about the Charmed Ones. The Source is not worried because with the Charmed Ones gone he does not have anything to worry about. Oracle says he should be worried because she sees another. At Prue's funeral, Piper, Phoeber, Daryle, and the rest listen as a Wicca Priestess performs the Eulogy. Paige is sitting in the audience and is greeted by the sisters after the service. Phoebe asks Paige how she knew Prue, and she says she knew her from around. Phoebe wonders if they have met somewhere, because she seems familiar. As Phoebe touches Paige, she gets a premonition of Paige being attacked by Shax (the demon that killed Prue). However as they try to go after her, they are attacked by demonic bounty hunters after Cole. Piper can not believe that this would happen, wondering why they can not bury Prue in peace. At the Manor where everyone has gathered, Phoebe tries to convince Piper that they have to go after Paige. Phoebe is obviously trying to keep busy, as she is cleaning. As Cole points out, she doesn't clean, she hates to clean. But Phoebe says it is better than falling apart. Phoebe tries to recall details from her premonition and she and Cole go off even though, as Piper points out, they can not defeat Shax without the Power of Three. Piper says she doesn't want to do this anymore, doesn't want to protect the innocent. She says that Leo can tell THEM that they burried the Charmed Ones when they burried Prue. As they go to leave, Daryle introduces them to inspector Cortez. Cortez says he is going to find the monster that did this. Phoebe is stuck by the use of the term monster. He says that he needs to talk to Phoebe and her sister about what happened. Phoebe and Cole leave to stop Shax. However, in the attic, Piper is determined to talk to Prue. However, when she casts the spell, she spirit that appears is that of her grandmother, not Prue. Grams tells Piper that she has been busy trying to help Prue make the transition. Grams says she is not allowed to talk about Prue, just like Piper she can't see Prue either, because if that happens, Piper is unable to move on, and neither is Prue. Grams tells Piper that her destiny still awaits, but Piper does not understand this. In the underworld, Oracle is talking to the Source, talking about Paige and her future. At P3, Paige and her boyfriend are dancing. Paige tells him that she has been coming to P3 for awhile. Paige says that she was adopted by great parents. After they died she went looking for her birth parents. She was left at a Church and tried to find answers nearby. She thought she might have been related to the Halliwells, but gave up on the idea because their mother died a long time ago. She never talked to the sister's though, she felt it would be too wield. She comes to P3 (and the funeral) because she felt connected. After they kiss, Paige takes him up to the roof with something to show him. Meanwhile, Phoebe and Cole have staked out the rooftop. She is not sure that they can take out Shax. As Cole tempts Phoebe to just go away with him, Paige and her boyfriend show up on the roof. Cole and Phoebe watch as Shax appears and attacks them. The demon injures the guy (Shane), but as he throws his energy ball at Paige, she gets frieghtened and suddenly Orbs to avoid the energy ball. Cole and Phoebe come to try and save her, but they do not have the power to defeat him, only drive him off. At the manor, Phoebe and Cole talked to Leo about what they saw. He doesn't understand what she could be. They tell him that she asked just as surprised as they were when she orbed. Leo goes to talk with the Elders and Cole goes to investigate what information the other side might have, leaving Piper and Phoebe alone. Piper is angry at Phoebe. Piper tells Phoebe that everyone in her family is just doomed to die and that Phoebe is making it far too easy on evil to kill her. At the hospital, Paige goes to see Shane. She says that she got scared and ran. The cops (inspector Cortez, the same inspector Daryle had introduced as taking over Prue's case) who tells them that whoever attacked them is probably the same person that killed Prue. He mentions that one of the women killed looked like Paige. Paige realizes he is talking about Prue. At the manor, Phoebe and Piper are talking over some Canamille. They say it just doesn't seem real. They try to talk about about normal things, like what to do with Prue's stuff and her car. Leo returns, but says that the Eldar's don't know anything about her. Cole says that the Source doesn't believe the girl is a Whitelighter, but rather is another one of the Charmed Ones. He sent Shax to kill her because he wants the Power of Three gone. Although Phoebe doesn't believe that is possible, Piper suddenly goes off to the attic, determined to ask Grams and find out what is going on. Grams appears, but when Piper confronts her, she pretends (rather badly) not to know what Piper is talking about. But Grams says she can't tell them, she was sworn to secrecy. When they demand to know by whom, their mother appears, telling them it was she that swore their grandmother to secrecy. Below, Daryle and insepctor Cortez enter the manor with a search warrant. Cortez is determined to find out what is going on. In the attic, their mother expalins that she and Sam (her WhiteLighte/Lover) decided to keep it a secret because they were afraid of reprisals. They gave her up for adoption, taking her to a local church and gave her to a nun. The girl they thought was their innocent is actually their younger half sister. Suddenly Cortez and Daryl bust into the attic and see everything. Phoebe tries to explain things to Cortez, but he blaimes them for evil magic. Grams tells Cortez that he caught them and asks what is he going to do, shoot them? For which Phoebe reminds her that not everyone present is dead? He says he is putting the house under constant surveillance and he is going to catch them doing something super-natural. Daryle gets fed up and hits Cortez over the head and knocks him out. Phoebe and Grams start rhyming and end up sending Cortez to Timbukto. Cole says he'll go after him and shimmers away. Piper is angry, demanding to know how her mother can come in and tell them all of this, especially the day they burried Prue. Leo can't find Paige because she is not a witch, so Phoebe says they have to find her. As they get downstairs, they find Paige standing in the foyer. She turns to go, but Phoebe says they were just coming to look for her. They introduce themselves, and she introduces herself as Paige (another 'P' as Phoebe points out). As Piper shakes her hand, energy flows through them. Suddenly Shax shows up again and sends them flying. As Leo tries to take him, the sisters run upstairs. Piper and Phoebe tell Paige to say the vanquishing spell with them, and as they do so, Shax blows up. Paige doesn't know what is going on, and runs out of the house. The Source confronts the Oracle, saying that the Power of Three is almost untouchable. The Oracle reminds the Source of the 48 hours he has to choose one side or another, the agreement made long ago to provide Free Will. The Source decides to try and turn Paige to his side. The Source goes off, warning the Oracle to see the future more clearly. The Source has gone to Shane, and possesses him before Paige arrives. Paige says the most horrible thing has happened, and Shane comforts her. Leo, Prue, and Phoebe are talking about Paige and how their mother kept it from him. Daryle arrives, wondering what they have done with Inspector Cortez. Cortez didn't show up for work. Cole arrives, but is cautious because a demonic bounty hunter shows up and Cole kills him. Cole says he put Cortez someplace where Cortez won't talk to anyone. But Leo says Cortez can't be killed. He and Cole agree to try and go and talk with Cortez. However, Cole warns the sisters of a worse threat, because on the way back he heard gargoyles, who come to life to warn off evil. Cole believe the Source himself has surfaced. They believe him to be after Paige, who doesn't stand a chance against him. They go off to try and find Paige. At Paige's place, The Source, as Shane, talks with Paige about what happened last night, although she isn't offering up much information. The Source uses his power to find out more about Paige and tells her he knows how she feels about an abuse father beating his son. Paige goes to work and leaves Shane at her place. In a deep pit of Hell, Cortez is stranded on a ledge. Leo and Cole arrive to 'save' him. Leo tries to make him understand that by exposing the girls he is not destroying evil, he is promoting it. Leo takes him away from the hell pit. At Paige's office, the case that Paige has been working on shows up. A seemingly abusive father. The Source appears and takes over the man as he is in the bathroom. Paige is talking to her Uncle, and asks about the Sister that found her at the church. She says something has come up and she should talk with the nun. Page tries to get invovled in the case, but her boss says it isn't her business and she isn't a social worker, only an associate. At the manor, Piper comforts Phoebe, who has finally slowed down enough for the weight of everything to catch up with her. Phoebe breaks down in tears. Phoebe wonders how they can go on without their big sister, how they can go up against the Source without her. At the Social Services, the Source, in control of the man's body taunts Paige, telling her there is nothing she can do to stop him. The Source takes over Shane's body again (killing an man while doing so) and smiles as his plan is succeeding. At the Church, Paige talks with the nun who found her. Sister Agnus remembers her and describes how Paige was brought to her, saying that her mother and father appeared to them like Angels, in bright lights. She says they told her Paige would come looking one day, and Sister Agnus kept the blanket she had been wrapped in (it has a P imprinted on it). Evidently they had only one request, that her name begin with a 'P'. Suddenly Prue and Piper show up (Piper freezing Sister Agnus) and try and talk with her, warning her that someone very bad is after her. Phoebe tempts her by telling her she has a magical power and that she needs to learn how to use it to protect herself. She explains how according to the prophecy, the Third Sister has the power to move objects with her mind. They try to teach Paige how to use her power, but fail (waving her arm, squinting her eyes). Paige gives up, but suddenly the candle she was trying to move 'orbs' in dissapear and reappears in her hand. Phoebe guesses the White-Lighter in her makes it work different. To which Piper says (in a very menacing voice), 'Half-Breed'. Shane shows up at the Church to the howling of Gargoyles. Paige runs to Shane, who helps him limp away. As Prue and Piper try to go after her, the Source hits them with energy which throws them across the Church. Inspector Cortez makes good on his threat after Cole and Leo returns, putting the house under surveilance. Daryle confronts Cortez, telling Cortez he has risked his career, his life, and his family for those girls, they are the best people he ever met. Back at the manor, the sisters explain what happened and Cole wonders why he just didn't kill Paige. He and Leo realize that the Source is trying to lure her to his side. He says that the Source can't interveene directly, but he can try and seduce and tempt her into using her powers for evil. They realize they don't know how to find her but that the source most definately does. At her apartment, Shane comforts Paige, who is so confused she doesn't know what to do. At the manor, Piper and Phoebe cast a spell (on a pair of bad sunglasses) to reveal the Source's true nature. However, they note that if they can't find Paige it will not help them. Cole reveals he can sense the source though, and they all go looking together. As Paige finishes a shower, the Source tempts her, telling her that she has the power to make changes and use it to stop people like the man who is abusing his son. The next day at work, Paige goes after the man, using her power to attack his heart. The sisters have arrived and witness the attack. Using the sunglasses, Phoebe sees a dark energy surrounding Paige. They try to convince Paige to stop, but Piper ends up just stopping her and Leo takes Paige back to the manor. As the man recovers from the attack, he tells his wife that he is no longer going to cover for her, that she must stop abusing their son. Leo stays behind to make sure they aren't followed. The Source is unhappy that he failed to convert Paige, but sees an opportunity to be rid of Belthezar. He stabs Cole with his sword and as Cole lays dying he calls for the Oracle to find Paige. At the manor, Paige is not happy. She is using her power to throw things around the house as Leo tries to convince her she is not evil. Piper tackles Paige, but as they think about a way to help her, the Source arrives and throws both Piper and Phoebe around. The Source says that their powers are strong, but wonders if they will be enough without the Power of Three. The Source says they only want her for her power, shifting forms to try and convince Paige. As the Source attacks Phoebe, Paige chooses to help her sisters and the Source reveals his true form as Paige turns from evil. The Source says he has broken the Power of Three before, he will do it again. He also taunts Phoebe, saying it wasn't a total waste since he got Belthezar. Suddenly Inspector Cortez arrives with a video camera. The Source thows him across the room and impales him on a coat rack before departing in flames. Leo runs to Cortez and heals him before he dies. Paige wonders how he did that, but Leo tells her that this is what WhiteLighters do, heal good people. Phoebe runs to find Cole. They find Cole dying, and Leo agrees to break the rules and heal Cole, even though it wouldn't only be the human half. Paige suggests that since she is only half WhiteLighter she might be able to help. Together they heal Cole's wound. At the police station, Cortez talks with Daryle and in the end gives Daryle the video tape of what he saw at the manor, ending the threat that the sisters might be exposed. At P3, Piper, Phoebe, Cole, and Leo sit around with a celebratory drink. Piper is still somber, she isn't sure how she feels. Piper admits she still unsure about continueing on with their 'destiny'. She needs time to think about it. Paige shows up, smiling and wanting to know if she gets free drinks (even though she doesn't drink anymore). She goes to leave, but they tell her to sit and talk. Leo and Cole make themselves scarce as the new sisters talk. She tells them that Shane doesn't want to see her anymore because he knows something bad happened and knows that she is connected. Piper says that it is all right, that she isn't really one of them until she has dated a demon. Phoebe asks Paige why she came to Prue's funeral. Paige says she felt like part of her lost something to. Piper invites Paige back to the manor, to show her what good magic can do. In the attic, they summon the spirit of their mother, whom Paige had never seen before. Patty welcomes Paige home as Phoebe and Piper watch on.

Cole is driving the Jeep madly through traffic as Piper directs him to hurry. They are trying to track a demon. They have evidently been tracking demons (they have killed two this week alone). Phoebe notes that two witches and a half-demon does not the Power of Three make, and comments that instead of teaching Paige how to be a witch, they have been hunting demons. When they arrive, Piper calls the demon off and uses her power on him. 'He's going to blow' calls Cole as he ducks into the Jeep for cover while the demon explodes, throwing green slime across the Jeep. Piper gets into the Jeep smiling, 'Next!', she calls. At South Bay Social Services, where Paige works, Paige has surrounded herself with books on wicca and witchcraft. Her boss interupts her reading about the persecution of witches, asking for an application that is due today which Paige forgot to do. A friend of Paige's, Billy, drops her mail, but is insulted by a jerk co-worker. Paige is unimpressed and unintentionally uses her power to teleport his tupee from his head into her hand. At the manor, Piper is crossing demons out of the Book of Shadows. Cole berrates her, telling her that she is needlessly risking their lives. He is having to protect them because he won't allow Phoebe to loose another sister. Phoebe tries to calm him down and sends him to get the door as she talks to Piper. Piper wonders what Phoebe's problem is with being proactive. As they talk, Paige suddenly comes into the attic. As Phoebe talks with Paige, Piper takes the map of San Fransisco and the gem and goes off to scry for evil. Paige asks about the Book of Shadows, and Phoebe says the book is old and powerful, but it protects herself. She tells Paige to thumb through the book, but that it is not supposed to leave the house. Phoebe goes to talk to Cole as Paige begins to copy spells out of the book behind their backs. Phoebe, Cole, and Leo talk about Piper and how she is out of control. Cole is extremely angry, but Leo says he will talk with her. Phoebe talks to Leo alone, telling him that Piper isn't herself. She is completely dismissive of Paige on top of everything else. Cole tells her that it must be hard. Her entire life Phoebe has been the younger sister, now she must play the role of the middle sister and mediate between the other two. Phoebe gains a newfound respect for Piper for all of the times that Piper had to play mediator between herself and Prue. Upstairs, Paige has made post-its all throughout the book, but eventually gives up and takes the book. She drops it out the window, where it falls safely to the lawn. Paige rushes downstairs and past Phoebe, telling her she has to go. Paige goes outside and retrives the book and heads back to work. Leo is trying to help Piper, but Piper is being very dismissive of what he has to say. Piper tells him that it hurts too much to talk. Leo wonders if Piper is still blaming him for not being able to save Prue. However, at this point Piper's scrying detects a demon and she heads off to find Phobe and Cole to fight the demon. At the office, Paige is using a copy machine to make copies out of the Book of Shadows when the jerk co-worker from earlier harasses her. As Billy comes in, the jerk insults him again and leaves. Paige notes that something must be wrong with the copier, because everything out of the Book of Shadows just keeps coming up blank. Billy is being nice to Paige, and in return, she casts a spell that causes all of his acne to vanish. Piper, Phoebe, and Cole are hunting the demons. Piper's powers are still aren't working completely right, as she accidenly freezes Cole before blowing up the entrance to the warehouse where they smell smoke and hear shouting coming from. Three wicked looking women-creatures come running out. Piper's powers of freezing don't seem to work on them (though she does manage to freeze Cole again) and they attack the sisters. Cole helps them to defeat one of them, but one had tackled Piper. Before it vanished, Piper inhaled the smoke it gave off. At the manor, the sisters are talking about the demons. Cole tells them that they are Furries. They take pleasure in killing evil doers, and do so indescriminantly. Cole also admits that when one attacks, they force an evil doer to hear the cries of all of their former victims. They discover that the Book of Shadows is gone. Piper believes that evil stole it, but Phoebe stumbles through admitting that Paige might have 'borrowed' the Book of Shadows. Piper wants to know why Phoebe would leave her alone with it, and Phoebe admits that it was because she is their sister. Piper responds, 'Not for long' and they go off to find the Book. At the office, everyone seems to be having good luck. Billy's face, another woman's car loan came through, and Paige is using magic to convince people to give her extension for the application she forgot about earlier. Paige is harrassed again by her jerk coworker. Finally fed up, Paige casts a spell against him to give him a taste of his own medicine. As Phoebe and Piper approach Paige's office, they see the jerk being mauled by a group of women. Paige runs out holding her arms across her chest. As Piper berrates her, Paige lowers her arms and reveals that her breast have increased in size dramatically. Piper accusses her of using the book to do this, but Paige says her body was fine as it was. It is evidently a consequence of the spell she cast. Piper is annoyed because instead of trying to fight demons, they will have to spend the afternoon finding a cure for Paige. As Paige and Phoebe drive back to the manor (made difficult because of Paige's new features, she can't shift by herself), she wonders if Piper will be mad at her forever. Phoebe tells her that Piper has just not been herself since Prue was killed. As Phoebe flips through the book she find the page on the Furries and learns that while Fury smoke kills bad people, in a good person, it looks for a portal of unexpressed anger to turn that person into a Fury. She admits that Piper inhaled some smoke. As Paige wants to know if Piper is turning into a demon, Phoebe says it wouldn't be the first time and the sisters shift into high gear (literally) and speed off to the manor. At the manor, Piper is throwing the man around the manor. Leo wants to know what is wrong, but Piper just throws him out of the way. As Leo tries to reason with her, Cole enters and tells him there is no reasoning with her because she is becoming a Fury. Cole stops Piper from killing the Jerk with a low power energy ball as Phoebe and Paige arrive. Piper dissapears in Fury smoke. Phoebe, Paige, and Leo are trying to figure out how to save Piper. Leo is not pleased at Cole hitting his wife with an energy ball and finding out that Paige stole the Book of Shadows. Phoebe mentions that they must hurry, because if this is anything like the time she turned into a Banshee, Piper will be hungry for a kill. Paige isn't thrilled to learn that Phoebe turned into a Banshee. Leo is to return the Jerk to his office and Phoebe and Paige will handle Piper. Phoebe says they can still save her, noting the time she turned into a Windigo. Phoebe reverses the spell and Paige shrinks back to her normal size (actually smaller). At a warehouse, the Furries are killing an evil doer after making him hear the cries of all of his victims before Piper shows up, saying she's been looking for them. Meanwhile, the other sisters are scrying for Piper, but having no luck. Cole returns having no luck, demonic bounty hunters have been after him. Phoebe says a spell to find Piper would have to be strong, the pull of evil is extremely powerful (she mentions the time she was possessed by the Woogie). Paige decides that if the spell must be strong, they will have to add bait, and they decide to use Cole as bait (over Phoebe's stern objections). As the Furries are dressing Piper and braiding her hair, she hears the call of the spell. She knows where evil dwells she says, and they go off. Before they arrive, Paige is trying to practice using her orbing powers without much success. Cole scares her, and as a fear response she orbs. Paige wonders how they will de-Fury Piper and Phoebe says they must close the portal of unexpressed anger (to which Cole wonders how it can be unexpressed, she seems to be expressing it pretty well). There is evidently something that Piper is not saying that is the cause. Suddenly Cole falls in pain as cries of his victims assault him. The Furries have arrived, and the battle is joined. Paige distracts them and Cole throws energy balls at the two other Furries, leaving just Piper. Paige looks through the book as Cole prepares an energy ball to hit Piper with (but Phoebe tells him not to). Phoebe confronts Piper, telling her that Piper blames her, feeling that Phoebe abandoned her and Prue and that is why Prue died. Paige calls Piper over, telling her it isn't about Phoebe. Piper attacks Paige, who orbs away every time Piper swings at her. Paige tells her the sister that abandoned her was Prue. As Piper and Paige wrestle, Leo orbs them both out of the manor and to Prue's grave. At the grave, Paige tells her it is alright to hate Prue. When her parents died she hated them for leaving her alone. Piper cries out, 'how dare you', but instead of attacking Paige, she runs and begins to beat at Prue's grave in the mosoleum. The smoke leaves Piper and she returns to normal. Leo tries to comfort her, but Piper says that although Prue risked her life everyday, she never thought about what would happen to her if she was gone. At the manor, Piper and Phoebe comment on how quiet things are. They comment on how Prue was always the first one up and the last one down. Piper wants to know how scary she was, but Phoebe says she has seen worse, and in fact she has been worse. Phoebe points out that it was Paige that saved her, she really is a Halliwell. Piper says she knows she hasn't been the most welcoming. She misses Prue so much, and opening up to love just seems like opening up for more pain. Phoebe tells her not to start with love, just to start with 'thanks'. At the Social Services office, Piper brings some muffins to Paige, telling her that it is busy work, she is best in the kitchen. Evidently the jerk co-worker of hers has changed completely. Paige asks Piper how she is and Piper says she has had good hours and bad hours. Paige says she knows how it is, she went through the same thing when her parents died. Piper notes some scratches on Paige and tells her that Leo could heal those for her. Paige says it is her first war wound and she will wear it with pride. Piper warns her that in this family, it will not be her last. Paige says that every family has its advantages and disadvantages. A few demon scars to clear up her friend's skin is a small price to pay. Piper warns her that there are rules to follow about being a witch. Paige replies that Piper is married to their WhiteLighter, and that Phoebe is shacking up with a demon. Paige's boss comes by and wonders why Paige isn't working. Piper says it is her fault, and when Paige's boss asks who she is, Piper respond that she is Paige's sister.

Cole learns that the Source will try to destroy the girls soon, before others believe the Source to be weak and challenge him as the leader of all things evil. As a result, Cole insists Phoebe take her martial arts studies more seriously as Piper instructs Paige in the basics of witchcraft. Paige, however, does not devote her full attention to her studies and while mixing a potion inadvertently switches bodies with Phoebe. Meanwhile, Yenlo, a student of a Zen Master, seeks revenge on his teacher and his master's daughter, Anling, after being passed over to take his masters' place. When mortally wounded, Yenlo, hides in between worlds, eventually wounding and capturing his former master. Anling crosses paths with the Charmed Ones and needs their help to save her father.

Paige has a bad feeling about a house she passes every morning on the way to work. but Piper is too busy trying to re-do the club and Phoebe is too busy trying to find a job to listen to their new sister. However Leo thinks it's wise for Paige to trust her instincts. Finally when Phoebe goes to check it out she comes up against an ugly demon who shrinks her down to 5 inch tall. When Paige and Piper also walk into the demon's trap, his collection is complete.

Paige's favorite child-hood story turns out not to be a story after all. And she finds this out when she unknowingly transports the Knight of her story to the future. But the thrilling part is that the Evil Enchantress of the tale turns out to be Paige, herself. In the meantime Piper and Phoebe try to vanquish a shocker demon. Phoebe and Piper go back in time and end up trapped in the Dark Ages. Elsewhere, Piper and Phoebe ask Paige to move in with them to make it easier for the sisters to battle demons.

Piper is beginning to think of being Charmed as a curse and that it would be better to give it up. But she decides to put her thoughts on hold as she and her sisters go hunting down a demonic bounty hunter sent from the source to bug their house. And in the event of looking for him Piper is attacked by the source and he taps into her brain taking her to a whole new world where she and her sisters are in a mental institution which is the manor itself. Meanwhile her sisters have no idea what to do but then Phoebe has a vision of the Source killing her and Paige with their own powers.

Cole wants Phoebe to marry him but she's confused about what to do when they find a another demon who attacks in the same style as Belthazor is on the loose. And as they try to stop him they encounter a widow who seeks revenge on Cole for killing her husband. Meanwhile, Paige encourages Piper and Leo to test their readiness to become parents.

Many demons are on the loose trying to get the vacant possition of the Source who is temporarily injured and one of them has started capturing Muses-beings of inspiration-in an enchanted ring. And as the Charmed Ones try to figure out what is going on they come face to face with their own Muse, Melody. And now the over inspired sisters try to get the ring back and vanquish the demon, but things intensify when Melody herself is captured. In the midst of the assault, Cole becomes testy about Phoebe�s rebuffing his marriage proposal and is concerned that without his demonic powers he can no longer protect the love of his life.

Paige travels to the past with Leo to her high-school years see her foster parents and finds out that she would have died in the accident that killed them if her powers hadn't saved her. Then feeling guilty she tries to prevent their death. In the meantime Phoebe and Cole's bodies have been possessed by ghosts from the past and Piper has to find a way to stop them from marrying or the souls will remain in Phoebe's and Cole's bodies. Phoebe also responds to Cole's marriage proposal.

Phoebe is summoned to perform jury duty and is assigned a murder case. Hit with a premonition about the real killer, Phoebe must convince the rest of the jury that the defendant is not guilty, and the only way to do this is to prove the existence of magic. As she desperately stalls in the jury room, Piper, Paige and Leo frantically try to discover the real killer in time to free the wrongly accused man.

Wanting to protect a ten year old orphaned boy who is a firestarter, Piper and Leo go down to the underworld to kill a demon before he can deliver the kid to The Source. Phoebe is given Gram's wedding ring by Cole, but to their surprise the ring has been cursed to transform the wearer into a traditional 1950's suburban housewife.

The Source breaks an age-old agreement between good and evil by stealing The Hollow, an ancient vapor which he uses to absorb first Piper's and then Paige's powers. Phoebe must allow Cole to help The Charmed Ones in spite of having had a premonition that involved Cole sacrificing his life to save her from evil, In order to do that The Seer summon Cole and she told Cole that if he want to save Phoebe he must break the vapor in order to stop the source from killing the Charmed Ones. The sisters seemingly vanquish The Source, not realizing he has begun to take over Cole's body.

Phoebe develops a case of cold feet over marrying Cole and casts a spell which brings a young innocent Phoebe and an old cynical Phoebe to the Manor to help her make a decision. Cole now finds The Source is taking over his entire being. The Source's chief rival, who believes The Source is dead, is convinced by The Seer to kill The Charmed Ones in order to earn the allegiance of the entire underworld.

On the eve of getting married, Phoebe is excited about what she thinks is going to be a traditional, Cinderella-like wedding. What she does not realize is that Cole, having been completely taken over by The Source, wants a demonic wedding which will enable his son to be heir to the underworld. So, Cole orchestrates a series of events, including making Phoebe invisible, to bring down Phoebe's plan for a white wedding and maneuver her into a black one.

Piper and Phoebe help a woman who's been attacked by a demonic power broker. When Cole sees that Paige maybe trouble he summons the power broker and infects Paige who slowly finds herself turning into a demon. Paige is feeling out of place among the happily married people - Phoebe and Cole along with Piper and Leo. The situation gets worse when Paige becomes convinced Cole's still a demon, while he secretly plots to impregnate Phoebe with his evil spawn.

Believing Leo left them to die when he was a medic in WWII, two ghosts from Leo's battalion try to exact revenge by killing those close to him. Distraught over the memory of being unable to save everybody in his unit, Leo loses his powers to protect The Charmed Ones. Wanting to separate a potentially pregnant Phoebe from her sisters, Cole makes Phoebe's life at the manor miserable so she will agree to move into an apartment with him.

Hoping to defeat The Source and gain re-entry into the underworld, demonic bats bite Paige. If she in turn bites an innocent, she will become a vampire forever. Cole tries to vanquish the Vampire Queen knowing that her death will kill all her vampires as well. Piper finally begins to suspect that Paige may have been right about Cole working with demons, but before she can say anything she learns that Phoebe is pregnant. Also in this episode we learn that Cole wants to kill Paige and he doesn't want Paige to orb in their house, because Paige might learn that he is still evil and try to tell her sister that's why he wants to kill Paige but he didn't make it because of Phoebe.

The sisters finally discover that Cole is the source and Phoebe joins him in the underworld as his queen. And at this point Phoebe also receives her new power, that which was seen in "Pardon my Past." The Charmed ones must also retrieve the Grimorie, which is the evil Book of Shadows. They think they have it all planned with a Wizard to help them, but can he really be trusted. Piper and Paige agree to team up with a magical wizard to stop the upcoming coronation of a new Source, but realize they need Phoebe to assist them. Phoebe learns that Cole is The Source, yet the evil influence of the demon baby inside her causes her to be conflicted about helping her sisters.

With the evil baby growing inside her, Phoebe is still torn between helping her sisters save innocents and taking on the duties of Cole's Queen. Cole pushes Phoebe to drink a tonic to strengthen the baby, knowing full well that this will also suppress her goodness. Piper, believing she has lost another sister to evil, becomes despondent and turns to drink to numb her pain. Paige comes up with a plan to get Phoebe to see the light and help her sisters vanquish Cole.

The Seer enlists the help of a demon nobody has figured out how to vanquish to help her magically take the baby from Phoebe and become The Source in the process. The baby inside Phoebe starts to take over her body turning her into an evil creature of instinct. Piper and Paige must figure out ways to thwart The Seer's plans and prevent the baby from killing Phoebe.

The Angel of Destiny gives the sisters a choice. They can either remain charmed for the rest of their lives or be Mortal. Piper and Phoebe want to give up the Charmed title, but Paige wants to keep at it. But what happens when the Angel says that Majority Rules? This is the Season Finale of Season 4!
