much trouble participants have or have not been in before; participants are given
opportunities to 'work off' warnings in order to avoid further consequences

Safety and Supervision:
there are usually at least 3 staff members on duty while Charlie's Place is open; conflicts and concerns are mediated or otherwise dealt with promptly; participants with specific concerns may speak one-on-one with staff members if they wish to; parents'
concerns are always taken seriously and will be dealt with promptly

Committees:
particpants are encouraged to take part in running Charlie's Place by serving on
committees; they can help plan menus, create shopping lists (for food and for supplies), plan future activities and programs, and make decisions about what is offered/provided by Charlie's Place; all participants must take turns serving on the clean-up committee

Structure:
there are sign up sheets and rules of conduct for the more popular games and activities (playstation use, computer use, music use, pool table use) and there is a set 'quiet time' (during the school year) when Charlie's Place first opens during which participants can complete homework assignments, play quiet games or just relax and hang out
